Jack Hughes ends it in OT, Detroit drops their second straight after regulation. #LGRW

Mantha gets his 1st of the season. Rasmussen failed zone entry turns the puck over, and Mantha gets behind both Faulk and ASP. Not great. #LGRW

Simon Edvinsson's mother posted this Instagram story of him travelling w/ his hockey gear, captioned with "Best of luck".

Can confirm that this is just Edvinsson flying to skate with a trainer on the east coast (facilitated by his agency). No contract or trade yet. #LGRW

Regulation: 0 goals
Overtime: 0 goals
First 10 shooters in the shootout: 0 goals

Double shutout for Tarasov and Fowler as OT ends 0-0, headed to the shootout. #LGRW

For the 3rd time tonight, a Montreal goal is called off as the would-be OT winner is correctly overturned for offside. #LGRW

Caufield seemingly beats Tarasov from about the tightest angle possible, but video review determines that the puck didn't actually cross the line.

Huge break for Detroit. Would've been an awful goal to allow, especially right off the bat. #LGRW

Fun end to the period: Larkin goes after Greig for a hit on DeBrincat, Chiarot feeding Greig, Finnie, Seider, Cat involved. Love the intensity.

Cousins pointing to his chest chirping at Larkin, saying "Where's your C?" as they were jawing lol. #LGRW

William Wallinder gets his 1st career NHL point in his debut, assisting Faulk's goal. #LGRW

New episode. This was a big one.

The Edvinsson layup that turned into another disaster.

The avoidable mistakes that led to this.

Home Opener defined by boos & fan outrage.

Hope you enjoy (or find catharsis in) it. #LGRW

Jets up 3-0 on their 3rd power play goal, and more "Sell The Team" chants can be heard on the broadcast. Detroit still without a goal to start the season. #LGRW

What was the plan when the Red Wings were going to trade for Quinn Hughes? Offer him a $9 million dollar extension and assume he'd say "yes thank you"?

This isn't even the hard stuff that they're getting wrong. This is basic work for 31 other teams. Stuck in the past. #LGRW

What's preferable? Overpay Edvinsson by $2 million & keep him for 7 prime years, OR trade Edvinsson while you have a standing Larkin trade request, lose DeBrincat for nothing, & potentially have Seider/Raymond follow suit.

They're barely above the cap floor as is! Unreal. #LGRW

It legitimately DOES NOT MATTER what you think Simon Edvinsson is objectively worth if you're the Detroit Red Wings.

Cap & market are skyrocketing & talent acquisition in the NHL is almost impossible. If you're not winning & not a destination, you HAVE TO PAY FOR TALENT. #LGRW

If Ilitch & Red Wings management want to salvage the situation & stop the bleeding, they need to make amends with Edvinsson & get a 7 year deal done then immediately pivot to Cat.

This isn't just about Edvinsson anymore. Detroit's in freefall & there's a LONG way down. #LGRW

May take some time as teams figure out their rosters & outlook, injuries (Barkov), salary cap projections & planning play out, etc., so there's no need to rush to get pennies on the dollar.

The only reason DET couldn't get a good return is if they're asking the impossible. #LGRW

Fans will still (justifiably) be angry - nobody should thank Larkin for making their team worse, even if it's what's best for him.

But now with enough teams to work with, it's on the Red Wings to make the most of it, get a good return & use it to pivot/retool around 53/23. #LGRW

On Larkin: he made the best decision for himself, but he has to wear it. He has & will continue to.

Now, his trade list is big enough to (eventually) make a deal. It's on ownership & mgmt. to be realistic about a return (not getting a current 1C). Ball is in their court. #LGRW
