The inconsistency of tumblr's content guidelines continues to baffle me 🤔 Like: Tyranny with the soul bikini didn't get any flags for mature content, but the (cropped) art of Wyll and Astarion in the graveyard did? Granted, one is a (mostly) naked lady, the other is two guys fucking, but still

And I'm noticing a pattern where that passion and momentum can lead to exhaustion and worsened physical issues. It's really tough 🤷‍♂️ It's easy to put a pause on tedious things (chores, emails, errands), but it's much harder to put a pause on things that breathe life into you

I'm trying to find peace with that, and trying to stop overexerting in ways that cause injuries or pain flares. Like most creatives, I find it really hard to pause or take a rest from making things. Once I get started, I always want to keep going and make *all* the things

Because like, even when you're disabled or experiencing pain, you still need to live life and do the things you enjoy, if you can. Living with a disability doesn't always mean you need to give things up--sometimes you just have to find workarounds and compromises.

The calculations are like: how much time can I spend on this task, and how much time will I need to spend resting afterwards? Do I have that rest blocked off in my schedule? Have I made sure basic life tasks are completed *before* I need to rest (meds are close by, easy to make food is available)?

I think most disabled people have to ask themselves these questions: I want to keep doing what I love, but there will always be costs attached, so how much do I do, and how much of a cost am I willing to put in? I think for most of us the answer isn't "just stop doing what you love"

Man. I need a little vent: I'm currently feeling the push and pull of being a disabled artist. I still technically *can* make art, but it always takes a toll on my body (pain flares in my arm and back). Everything I do has a cost attached, and doing what I love needs to be carefully calculated

Lil behind the scenes here: for some reason, my scanner sucks all the warmth out of the pink tones :') I manually went into Krita to adjust the colors, did a fill layer of pink on top of Tyranny's skin tones, to get it closer to the original. I think it turned out well, but wayyy too much work tbh
