This week I spoke to ITV from our family farm about bovine TB. We've lost two beef cattle after positive tests, a devastating blow. Vaccine development remains slow & underfunded, with concerns over testing accuracy. Farmers need a properly funded, long-term TB strategy they can trust.
Wonderful to meet Lesley and Sarah in Martock and hear about their Poppy Project. Over 3,000 handmade poppies will honour the 59 local men lost in WWI, alongside 59 previously planted memorial trees, a new plinth and benches. A moving example of a community coming together in remembrance.
An inspiring visit to Chilton Bridge School, where dedicated staff help children with SEND thrive. A pleasure to meet David, a budding philosopher with some excellent political questions! Every child deserves the right support. I’ll keep pushing for proper SEND funding.
A sad day on my family farm as we send on two cows who tested positive for TB. The financial and emotional impact of TB on farmers is devastating. We need a clear, consistent strategy that earns trust, protects animal welfare and supports the small family farms vital to our food security.
This #DyslexiaAwarenessWeek, I’m celebrating the creativity and different ways of thinking people with dyslexia bring to our communities.
Everyone deserves the chance to thrive. That means recognising dyslexia and ensuring schools and workplaces provide the right support.
I joined the Levels and Moors LCN to update communities on my work. Flooding was high on the agenda. I was proud to help secure £50m for Somerset’s flood resilience earlier this year. Now that funding must deliver real improvements for our communities. I’ll keep pushing to make sure it does.
On Thursday I held my latest constituency surgery in Martock, meeting residents to discuss the issues affecting them and their families.
📩 If you need my assistance, or would like to attend my next advice surgery, please get in touch with my office.
Last week's Liberal Democrat Autumn Conference in Brighton was inspiring and full of energy. I'm really pleased my food security motion was adopted and becomes Lib Dem policy. And I look forward to bringing my Good Food Bill to Parliament in this upcoming session.
Enjoyed a quick pit stop at Days Gone By ahead of my advice surgeries in Martock yesterday. This delightful tea room & emporium showcases fantastic handmade products and gifts made by local crafters, based at The Pavillion on the Recreation Ground. Do pop in - you’ll be assured of a warm welcome!
🚜 Great to visit James Pullen at Perrins Hill Farm and see the potato crop and cider apples. 🥔🍎 This summer’s dry weather has hit yields hard. Farmers need greater support for on-farm water storage, fair prices and long-term resilience as our climate changes.
🚜 Good to catch up with Martin Lines and Anthony Curwen from the Nature Friendly Farming Network to discuss my Good Food Bill, British produce and protecting food production from climate shocks. Farmers need long-term certainty to run profitable businesses while caring for our countryside. 🌱
A brilliant visit to Milborne Port Primary School, where pupils put me through my paces on flooding! 🌊 We discussed reducing flood risk and building climate resilience. I also came away with two big envelopes of their letters and ideas. Fantastic to see young people so engaged! 🌱
🍺 Huge congratulations to The Drayton Crown on making the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2027! I loved visiting during my summer pub tour. Rural pubs are vital community hubs, local employers and part of village life. I’ll keep fighting to get them the support they need to thrive. 🍻
🚜 I’ve written to the Defra Secretary of State following the abrupt closure of SFI ’26 Window 2. Farmers deserve fair, stable support, not another botched closure and more uncertainty. If you’ve been affected, please get in touch and share your experience.
🚜 At an NFU event this week, we discussed barriers to vital vaccines, missed vaccination opportunities and the need for better disease detection and faster deployment. I’ll keep pressing the Government to strengthen animal disease prevention and protect British farmers.

I was pleased to speak at the Countryside Alliance panel with Alistair Carmichael MP and Roz Savage MP. My message was clear: rural communities must be at the heart of our politics. I’ll keep championing British farmers, food security, rural services and our countryside.
💙 Great to meet Dementia UK and hear about their vital work supporting people affected by dementia. Too many families struggle to access the health and social care they need. People living with dementia deserve dignity, timely care and proper support. I’ll keep pushing for change.
Delighted that my food security motion passed at Liberal Democrat Conference yesterday.
My statement on the Sustainable Farming Incentive Scheme window 2 closure today:
