Intriguing ππ»
Wait til you see this little guy...
Oh nice one!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
Research on agency and responsibility goes all the way back to 1979, here's a summary of the paper that started it, if you're curious! werkwelzijnenmotivatie.wordpress.com/wp-content/u...
Excited to be in Prague for my first #OSSummit! I'll be talking on Burnout in Open Source 11.55 on Friday, come say hi if you're around! π Lots of exciting things in the schedule... bit.ly/3NXx5Zp
I've seen maintainers talk about wanting to disincentivise people from making slop AI PRs/issues in the first place, but it's hard to know how to achieve that in practice. I'd love to know more about what motivates people to do it
Right! It sounds like there is vastly more noise in the form of slop, but also genuine signals amongst the slop that are hard to ignore once you know they exist, but that are also effortful to get into a state where they're fit to merge. Greater volume of harder work!
I keep hearing this, sounds like there's a tremendous signal-noise problem. I also imagine the fact that all this extra work isn't even coming from another person who has put some effort into it must add insult to injury!
Just drop me a DM or email at [email protected] if you'd like to share your thoughts
I'm researching the impact of AI on OSS maintainer burnout at the moment, I'd love to get your views if you're happy to share. The pain of losing connection with others comes up quite a lotβit sounds like folks are almost in mourning for how things used to be, you are not alone!
So happy to be involved! What a rich picture of what it's like to be a dev in 2026βthe good, the bad and the ugly!
Gorgeous salamander oh my goodness!!!
Super excited to be a speaker at @viteconf.org this year, where I'll be talking about burnout in OSS and why we should care about it π₯ viteconf.org/tickets/t/YB...
Done!
Hey Sacha! Thanks for reaching out, I'd love to learn more about your survey, and devographics, too! Wanna hop on a call sometime? We can organise by PM
Such an important and multifaceted topic, thanks for the exploring this, was really nice to chat with you about it! Big recommend for anyone feeling a bit off the more they use AI to code!
This is the most important video I've ever made. In this, I explore the negative and positive mental health effects of AI coding, with data and expert commentary. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPUn...
New OSS sustainability research lab just dropped! π Come see what we're all about!
Today, we're launching a world-class research lab dedicated to Open Source sustainability with a team of some of the most experienced people in the world.
Delighted to! I'll DM you...
Ooh great idea! I'd love to chat, Scott! βοΈ I'm also finding people feel pressure to produce more in the age of AI coding, and I'm super interested in the experience of 'AI brain fry' that comes with trying to do to much in parallel, looks like we're looking at some of the same things!
Thanks for the shout-out β€οΈ part 2 on the impact of AI on maintainer burnout underway π
