That does sound neat! And like less work
Constellation reads records that come through and check them for URLs. If the document content field contains URLs, it means it can record backlinks from the document to other records. So that's discoverability via backlinking! Not of the record itself, but of other things
Yeah, just turn off all the PII stuff and session replay and all of that and you're still being a good netizen, but with Sentry's capabilities I totally get why they're on blocklists
The second episode of the podcast I host at work is up! We chat to Leo about how Game Days are a great way of building resiliency in your team, and also great fun!

As a big fan of @standard.site I wanted to write down some thoughts on where I think it could improve and grow, highlighting some of the rough edges I have bumped into. I would love to just see this grow!
Long time sentry user. They very recently redesigned the SDKs so you have to be a bit careful with your config to avoid sending too much information now. Also their CDN link and API URLs are on tracker blocklists so if you want to avoid missing errors you gotta proxy and stuff
Code that works at a point in time is mostly uninteresting. What matters is building structures to ensure code stays correct over time. That to me is the essence of engineering in software
Costs unnecessary database check! But at the size of this bloom filter, even at a million dead items it would only impact false positive rate by 1 in 500K
No noticeable impact on CPU usage on my 8 CPU server when I added this. Even if I removed the collection filter it would keep up just fine at peak with one process, based on the rough estimates I did at the time, although I didn't write any numbers down
👀
I built a Bluesky post backlink index for @shelf.cafe and wrote up all the juicy technical details. Features kite+jetstream,
@microcosm.blue's constellation, and amazingly, bloom filters!
One of the most fun blog posts I've written.
oooh migrated good luck!
I don’t know, I also tried it in your native language and I didn’t understand a thing
You might want more histogram buckets 🤔
What do you use for private repos? I'm still mostly on Github for that, although I am using gitea as an adhoc OCI registry on my dokploy server
@tangled.org! Preaching to the choir but atproto has so much potential. On top of that it does feel like Tangled is on a great trajectory, I love that you can self-host components but still share the social aspects. They've got neat stuff coming
Lots of stuff gets abstracted away with cloud services. Sometimes you make what looks like a minor switch but actually it's a different processor and you now have 10x the performance per vCPU
Finally polished up the comments and backlink thread section on @shelf.cafe. Still minimal but reads a lot better now! I think it's time to start exploring @standard.site backlinks too!
I'm so happy with the state of them. And it's part accident too, it was supposed to have a different background color but the rule was wrong and didn't apply. This was much better than what I intended to do!
Right shoulder for me. I always knew working all day from the sofa with the laptop in my lap was gonna catch up with me
