A few bugs to chase

I will fix the bugs

Still a perfect score today

All my ideas are fire... After all even a dumpster fire is still technically a fire.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 10, 2026, 1:06 AM

HQ trivia on atproto but with @atmosphere.games and @stream.place integration. Who wants to host?

@chris.pardy.familyOct 10, 2026, 1:04 AM

Fun fact I wasn't sure if this was true so I launched poasters.club it's a @witchsky.app fork, vlpds, a labeler, and some verification records.

Took an afternoon. I built an em–dash cms site too.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 10, 2026, 12:55 AM

I think there's probably a way to extend this so people launching streamplace from a social app don't need to do a step up auth until they launch their first stream.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 10, 2026, 12:50 AM

Check out cavu.games
I do auth on the main site and then proxy writes from games with a bunch of restrictions through that server. Technically I can host games on arbitrary domains and skip the consent screen. I do need to cover the consents once up-front, or do step up for specific items.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 9, 2026, 11:18 AM

We don't support drafts (yet) but I had hoped to take a few turns on this today. I think I can add shared draft support. That does raise the question if you want a full approval workflow. It feels like yes but I'm not entirely sure

Bluesky Santa: A bot that reads all your posts from the last year and tells you if you're naughty or nice. It's going to have to do it twice and then deliver presents or coal to every user within the PDS rate limits which will be tricky...

@chris.pardy.familyOct 9, 2026, 12:42 AM

I just rebased my patches on the latest commit. The big change is adding sign in with Google and "sign in with atmosphere" (aka delegation lite) if you're open to those changes I'll create an issue detailing the design. The other changes I have are adding account admin stuff from my witchsky fork

@chris.pardy.familyOct 9, 2026, 12:25 AM

And I do think something will break out. There are enough people building fast enough that we'll hit something that gains traction.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 9, 2026, 12:25 AM

Ultimately (the collective) we are copying the systems we like off atproto. What we're building is betterβ„’ but it's going to be uphill to move people off incumbents. I think time and space(s) will ultimately produce new patterns that lead to break out. But f'ing around until then is important.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 9, 2026, 12:25 AM

Someone coming in with a blue ocean strategy wouldn't be fighting network effects, but they would need to run their own open PDS which has its own challenges, namely accepting arbitrary UGC. Any new project I'm seriously building includes an open PDS in its budget.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 8, 2026, 1:15 PM

@pds.dad I built a thing (laurels.rest) that needs some TLC for people like you. Would love feedback

@chris.pardy.familyOct 8, 2026, 1:10 PM

What if I don't want to argue with you but just commiserate on all of this? Can I still call-in?

@chris.pardy.familyOct 8, 2026, 1:03 PM

@jaz.sh I've got a few quality of life improvements from running and integrating with vlpds that I'm running as patches now. Would you be open to issues / prs?

Next up I'm working on the game forge which will include an in-browser version of the dev server. So you can edit and play your game with just a web browser. I'm looking at how I can incorporate low cost coding models to make game development more accessible.

@chris.pardy.familyOct 7, 2026, 3:33 PM

The cool thing about the play.cavu.games endpoint is that it also acts as a proxy to a dev server running on your computer via iroh. That means that you can host a game locally and invite people to play with a play.cavu.games url. This supports hot reloading of game bundles to the client

@chris.pardy.familyOct 7, 2026, 3:33 PM

play.cavu.games is our "cavu games engine" built in rust which uses lua for scripting. Games are going to be shipped as at-proto records so anyone with a working copy of the engine can run them.
Being able to leverage the same engine for multiple games should reduce the level of effort to build.
