Storytelling can happen in a huge range of different mediums, all valid, but writing specifically happens in words.

(And, of course, a lot of people who do abuse also like to a.) have power over more people, and b.) keep the people they're abusing feeling insecure, so it's not like it's hard to gather up anecdata for this conflation.)

You see this a lot in the push to classify all cheating as abuse. Just calling it a valid reason to leave the relationship isn't satisfying if your project requires the maintenance of the relationship to be more important than the happiness of the people IN the relationship.

People tell me to "get a job" when I mention that I'm homeless. I was working full-time right before I had a mental breakdown that lead to me losing my job, housing, and possessions(and I have a job now even while living in a shelter). I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
