Design Jeopardy was a lot more fun than a quiz

Realizing that a lot of Figjam community templates are good for real workshops, but less good for in-class design workshop simulating. Will need to riff and make a bunch of my own after this season. (Affinity Mapping, How Might We, etc.)

Those primitives are possible but would require some kind of force by law with severe penalties for infractions, honest actors will be lapped by bad actors who will look for every workaround. See also: click to cancel laws

The messiness of human affairs isn't a technical failure that we need to abstract away, it's understanding how to prove we care about people besides ourselves. It's why all this LLM have feelings stuff is so deeply offensive

@ronbronson.comOct 10, 2026, 6:56 PM

Working on a product that all about details amplifies this grief. Not every product can abstract away all the friction, there will always been necessary blockers, misunderstanding, math that doesn't math. This idea that everyone hates "doing the work" is going to cause incalculable harms

@ronbronson.comOct 10, 2026, 6:53 PM

Except it is true in the sense that level of control teaches you where the bottlenecks are, and without that "feel" you increasingly lose insights that don't cascade down when someone only ever trains on/uses tools that abstract away the nuance that you get further from what the work is about

I don't usually like modern jazz, but I keep coming back to A Supreme Blue from Nicholas Payton + Butcher Brown.

“Hype is eating the future, and leaving us the bones.” Sun-ha Hong of UNC-Chapel Hill says the Silicon Valley hype machine systematically “borrows credibility from the future to purchase legitimacy in the present.” The cost, he argues, is a planetary-scale drain on our alternatives.

Huge day if you're a Portland crow statue capturer

We already have them whether we think of them that way or not. I think it's less parties and more like east coast non partisan slates a bit foreign concept out here but proportional representation aside, w/o any consensus they'll always have a minoritarian pillow fight killing attempts at progress

I love planning longer lunches (outside the venue) in my events, companies generally hate people traveling on their dime to have lots of breaks so event planners feel they have to overschedule...

@ronbronson.comOct 7, 2026, 11:18 PM

Single member would be awful. Perma incumbent, fiefdoms, constant redrawing of districts. Especially in Portland I think 25% is too low a threshold but multimember is good, it does need some tweaks but ultimately we need better candidates actually interested in governing

@ronbronson.comOct 7, 2026, 10:45 PM

Gonna show this to my ixd class after spent today talking about analytics

@ronbronson.comOct 7, 2026, 10:44 PM

The new system will be better when factions learn to team up. I will say the first two years have been wildly disappointing (there should not be separate council district offices, they should share) but the representation is better than a single member deal even if we have to navigate these warts

I was on active duty, they don't just let randos build squadron websites fyi

@ronbronson.comOct 7, 2026, 9:55 PM

I built the 375th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron's at Scott AFB first website in Frontpage. What a time to be alive
