The humbug production function. I knew that Anwar Shaukh wrote about it and called the neoclassical production function "humbug" but I did not know the exact meaning of "humbug" until recently. I knew it was something bad, but not that it was *deceitfully* bad.
Oh damn. One of the very best :(
M'assabento pel @brankomilan.bsky.social que Anwar Shaikh va morir ahir.
On Keynes and abundance.
We shared interest in income distribution. Illustrating this empirical bent of mind, Anwar became very much interested in eco-physics and its modelling of the top of income distribution. He will be missed by many. Here is a picture from about two and half years ago.
I loved Anwar combination of classical economics with the search for its empirical confirmation. I think he was among very few (almost unique) in that. He was also a super nice person.
Everything that is straight A=B=C will be decimated by artificial intelligence. Everything that is curvilinear and tentative and human: A may be equal to B on a good day, but otherwise perhaps not, will be left alone by AI.
Mathematicians fear being reduced from *writers* of proofs to mere *readers* of (machine generated) proofs. Any writer can feel this: imagine you no longer get to write, but only to proofread what machines have written. Mathematicians feel they’re being LITERALLY reduced to “proof readers.”
