Getting ready for community day at IOSP in Leiden, Wed 14 Oct. Two open sessions, everyone welcome: a morning walk with @breadcrumbs.network, and an afternoon synth session by the sea. Details below. #IOSP26

While rehearsing the stations for IOSP I added some final tweaks (hopefully nothing broke). I am most excited about the toon wall. It now shows who has RSVPed, with an emoji for where they signed up, dots for finished stations, and 🍞 and 🤝 lines when people hand a breadcrumb on or connect. #IOSP2026

Playtesting the toon board just now. One airglow.run automation on a memo.dog test account: every humidity reading from the sensor board on my table becomes a toon, and the 🥵 flies across the top lane every ~5 s. The live data lane is the same board. #ATScience #IOSP2026

The toon board wall: a large sweating-face emoji in the top lane, and a thermometer with a satellite dish in the live data lane.

Third thing: @aster.id, the science PDS we launch in Leiden. I started my own trail as a researcher on it (torsten.aster.id) with these two laundry tags: black band = my personal tag, rainbow band = the outdoor day. 🧺

Two small black laundry tags shaped like buttons: one with a black elastic loop, the other with teal, blue and purple cords.

The write-up for next week's @atproto.science / @scios.tech workshop in Leiden is up, in two parts. Part 1: what a breadcrumb is and how you can start your trail at the workshop. 🍞

What you can do with a breadcrumb 🍞 1. Tap or scan, log in with your handle: a signed record lands in your own repo. 2. Tap a station magnet or scan its QR: it gets added to your trail. 3. Hand it on: the next person confirms "received from @you". Self-claim, not proof, not score, not badge.

Got a breadcrumb from myself, as a test 🍞 Next week at the #ATScience workshop #IOSP2026 in Leiden anyone can do this: tap, log in with your handle, and the next person's tap links back to yours.

7 NFC keyrings, 10 QR cabochons, 20 cards, station magnets and wood disks.

1. Table of breadcrumb parts: cord spools, wood disks, magnets, an NFC keyring, a card, and four glass cabochons with blurred QR codes.
2. Clear acrylic keyring with a round NFC sticker inside.
3. Two grey NFC magnets with smiley stickers: one with headphones, one with hands over its eyes.
4. Two wood disks with black ATScience stickers, an uncovered disk, cord spools and two smiley NFC magnets.

Started discussing digital tape as a plural property with streaming money attached, now without the NFT @pyxorium.com
"Partial common ownership (also known as PCO, COST, SALSA or Plural Property) is a new way of managing assets that is fairer and more efficient than conventional private property..."

@tgoerke.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 10:53 AM

Yes, you are right. What a silly moodboard I made😂. The prize sponsor was Superfluid, and the payment flow is what's treated on-top here in the Atmosphere. Everything else is pretty much there. I would like discuss it with you in a quick call sometime. Also seems I was PCO pilled that time. 👇

The Mastodon server run by the ‘toplap’ community, which is a hub for live coders and creative computer artists, is set to be shut down next spring.

We discussed both, feedmaking as a form of deliberation, which imo is an empowering thought. And also, in practice, coopetition.

I love this idea of digital tape. So many possibilities. Made my own experiments with NFTs, NFTape was a weekend project for a ethglobal.com hackathon.

The rejection of citizen science as "unpure" has always been nothing but gatekeeping. Will be an interesting read.

Thanks for the heads up. The idea behind @breadcrumbs.network is to give users another way to add information to their knowledge trail and to compute trust relationships from it, and this can also be applied to cards in Semble. I am thinking about an card shuffling ideas, unspecified so far.

Bring back the lanyards. The only app I enjoyed adding my paper trail. All others feel like stuff you need to do because work. @lanyards.app for AtmosphereConf 🌀
