I find everything about GTA6, and most Rockstar anything, exercises in gratuitous excess, ludicrous cost, and spectacle. The way its being handled from Netflix paid premieres to people acting like its a biblical event just feels gaudy to an unsustainable degree.

Making this was a great use of my time, surely. Ever been annoyed by the assumption that naked is the sexiest a person can be?

It disturbs me how I cant tell what is actual people suffering vs. what is just a carboncopy bot-account mass-sending posts to people. :/

Scammers have taken to sending me chat requests with their carbon-copy stories of how desperate they are in ukraine/gaza/etc. It disgusts me how fucking morbid these vampire accounts are. You only find me because I reply to someone elses comment chain via bot-scraping the newest posts.

Also "The curtains are fucking blue/Themes are for Eighth grade book reports." infuriates me to no end. As well as the dueling forces of "keep politics out of art" and "all art is political". I could go on and on :/

Otherwise, some others of note that I detest is overreliance on the "Hero with a Thousand Faces" as the only story format, its not, its been anthropologically debunked several times over, Campbell cherrypicks myths to retroactively fit into his format and believes women cant be Heroes--- bunk.

---To extremes that impede other minority writers work or what stories are allowed to be told and actively ensures a lack of diversity of stories. Big Media won't hire queer writers, they'll just not do queer stories. The solution is be informed and respectful of said groups, not restricting them.

I'm an Ace Autistic person with disability. By that logic I should ONLY be able to write Ace-disabled autistic stories. Naturally that may severely limit any form of story I could tell. Overall 'let minority authors write their own stories' is a good sentiment, but gets vastly over applied---

If I want to do an "all myths are real story" and have a diverse cast of global characters, that sentiment means I shouldn't be allowed too. I understand the paranoia over cultural appropriation of marginalized cultures but the sentiment does more harm than good and impedes diverse stories.

A friend of mine legit had someone tell them they should have an "up and coming African Author" take over and write parts of their story for them involving an African cryptid for their kaiju novel they were writing. Which is a quite frankly ludicrous take to ask a indie self-published author to do.

A big one for me is the otherwise respectable push to have both diverse fiction being waylayed by voices demanding that only people belonging to said groups (black, queer, women, etc.) should be allowed to write their own stories or write said characters. Which can strangle the writing process---

There's a reason they push for shunting off their emotions, to be stoic and statuesque. To show emotion (besides anger) is weak, effeminate. Sports stars shouldn't have opinions on geopolitics, hollywood should only focus on acting, etc. They should be emotionless objects to be projected onto.

It almost feels like this kind of toxic love of the hyper macho-masculine man feels akin to the malegaze. The form is an object, something to be coveted, something to possess or surround ones self with. Something that is molded to shape their world view even if they don't embody it themselves. 1/2
