Brind’Amour said Staal injured himself in the warmups before Sunday’s game in Philadelphia.

Staal has a partially torn calf. He will miss 1-2 months, according to Brind’Amour

Still no Staal, so the lineup remains unchanged. Kochetkov in the starter’s crease, Jarvis and Valimaki as extras.

Reminder that tonight is a “Frozen Frenzy” night, so start time of Caps-Hurricanes is 6:45 p.m., not 7 p.m.

Every NFL team needs to hire an assistant coach who specifically focuses on fourth quarter defense.

Brind'Amour called Kochetkov's game "super"

No real update from Brind'Amour on Staal. Says he hopes it won't be too long.

He also had 10 faceoff wins in Game 2 against Philly in last year's playoffs

He seems to like going against Philly. His career best is 11 wins, against the Flyers exactly a year ago. He has a 10-win night (vs. Dallas 10/25/25) and two nine-win games — one against Philadelphia.

Stankoven 8 of 10 at the dot tonight, his best faceoff night of the young season and second time he's been over 50% (5 of 8 against Florida in the opener)

Hurricanes win 4-1 to extend their winning streak to five. Lots of boos from Flyers fans after the horn.

Carolina back to the PP as Sanheim hooked Martinook

Jangretzky again. 4-1

The first two periods weren't particularly dominating by Carolina, but the third has been. Just stepping on the Flyers' neck here, and now they'll go to the PP.
