1 Saw the entertaining documentary You Had To Be There at the #FoxTheatre in #TheBeaches today. It’s about the 1972 #Toronto production of #Godspell that helped launch the careers of #EugeneLevy, #GildaRadner, #MartinShort, #AndreaMartin and others.

How #Ukraine uses precision drone strikes to hobble #Russian oil refineries

Kyiv is targeting critical components that are hard to repair. The strikes have crippled "Russia’s DIESEL production" and are at the center of a new standoff between #Trump and President #Zelensky.

Bistro Attache ta Toque in the village of #Deschambault, #Quebec. What’s missing in this photo is the splendid view of the St. Lawrence River from the dining room. (Unfortunately, the riverside patio area was closed when I was there a week ago) Also, very good #food and service.

A cozy-looking restaurant with a warm, crepuscular glow in the early evening light.

Should be “built 1835 to 1838”

Thanks. They’re impressive cliffs - just wish I had had a longer lens to capture them with.

An imposing brick church with two spires sits framed by trees, some of them tinted with autumnal colours, at the end of a street.

A long cliff face rises in the distance across the waters of the Gulf of St Lawrence in Forillon National Park in the Gaspe in Quebec.

The replies to @dbcurren.bsky.social's question are always good additions to the #TBR list.

I just finished Canadian scientist/poet/author @globalecochange.bsky.social's memoir. Easy to see why it won the 2020 Governor General's Literary Award for nonfiction.

Glad to hear it! The question is posed everyday Saturday at 10 am Ontario time, but I miss the odd weekend due to travel or other obligations.

What a great list! Very useful, as I’m always looking for short novels to break up a reading schedule that seems dominated by longer books and nonfiction. I read my first book by Thomas Bernhard recently. Not the one cited, but The Loser, and I was really struck by it, despite its brevity.

Thanks. And thanks for engaging with the weekly “what’s everyone reading” thread!

I read Rovelli's book on quantum physics a few years back and quite enjoyed it. How are you liking Seven Brief Lessons?

That looks interesting- great cover photo! How are you finding it?

I've been reading "A Month in the Country" by J.L. Carr and I loved it! Barely anything happens and there are phrases in wonderful prose that sound simple or banal at first sight but made me think or brought order to inner chaos. 📚 Many interesting replies to the quoted post, as always:

Thanks! I find help in “getting out of a reading rut” is something I could use pretty often.
