We reviewed FBI documents that showed a sweeping pay-to-play investigation involving Sen. Susan Collins was in motion. Then Trump shut down the unit in charge. Had we found a road map to corruption in Congress? We decided to dig deeper.

You know fossilflation hits home, when the top credit card "reward" is $0.50 off a gallon of gas

I'm just curious how many Nobels also count as Leading Researchers, and how many of those get double-tagged as either Innovators or Visionaries

Amazing job to help shape @ellenmacarthurfdn.bsky.social's and the world's approach to Critical Minerals ellenmacarthurfoundation.peoplehr.net/Pages/JobBoa...

Key strategic bit: not to use the need for getting CMs right as an excuse to delay getting off fossil fuels gwagner.com/nature-fossilflation

This is awesome. If your vote didn’t matter Republicans wouldn’t be trying so hard to stop you.

Hard to keep track of all the fossil-fueled fires these days, figurative and literal:

Here's a livestream from CBS LA showing the Norte Fire, which is destroying homes in San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente, California:

Transmission for sure, yes. And FWIW, "reliability...outside the model" is a bit of an understatement. We don't have a view of total grid reliability, but we do allow for storage (i.e. routing x% of the electricity through a 4-hour battery).

Preprint alert:

coalcrossover.org now available without a password: 6,580 coal units in 2,384 plants in 73 countries.

The math: for >95% of these units, coal OpEx alone > full CapEx + OpEx aka "LCOE" for solar and/or wind.

Martin Wolf on fire: “In less than seven years, the global economy has been subjected to an exceptional sequence of events.” All but one of these shocks, the exception being the pandemic, are man-made — or perhaps “strongman-made.”

Nope, exact opposite: some will not support EVs precisely because they're still cars, but now we're just arguing with ourselves :)

@gwagner.comOct 11, 2026, 11:46 PM

All true. BEV > ICE. Transportation Alternatives >> ICE. Also true, of course, that this is precisely where enviros are often their own worst enemy, but you knew that already, too.

Since this is AI-generated "cartoon" is making the rounds on certain sites, No, EVs don't just shift pollution. EVs are *much* better on CO₂, considering the entire lifecycle.¹ They are also much better on total *material* footprint.²

AI-generated "cartoon" falsely claiming EVs just shift emissionsDespite its dependence on critical minerals, energy transition's material footprint lower than that of the fossil-fuel economy
