This is a dumb way to look at it but sometimes I try to remember that for every person thought of as a real big titan in our hobby/industry, there's 20 guys who started making Minecraft videos on youtube last year who are bigger than all of us combined.

I guess I'm just too reticent to shitpost about it in case something really fucked up and morbid happened lol. But yeah, I would still point to Grimwild as the big example of "someone's work being finished by other people" in this hobby haha.

There's not really any concise way to tell people "if you like X I think you'll still like Y even though Y has a very different design philosophy despite being in the same genre" haha. My problems aside I try to not think of anyone as heroes or celebrities to look up to, we're all just makin shit.

I like crunchy grid combat games so it's probably Tom Bloom and Matt Colville. It's too bad there's such a big gap between their titles and small indie stuff in the genre, cuz for marketing reasons its smart for me to say my work is "like Lancer" when I think my design bends in a very diff direction

Like you don't need me to tell you doing propaganda for the US military is morally wrong, obviously it is. I'm talking even on a purely cynical level of "cover your ass, don't fuck up your income", these people are so fucking stupid when it comes to their internet careers.

You know if I managed to score something cushy like a career playing videogames that pays all my bills, I'd be thinking every single day "don't fuck this up" and probably losing sleep over it. It's crazy to me how so many people who "made it" on the internet are so fuckin dumb and careless.
