They come from a world where everyone is shitty and backstabbing as a matter of course. To them, business is about fucking people over. And our entire community is saying no and showing them the door.

@aphowell.comSeems likely. In author circles there was a lot of speculation about repackaging for translation markets (so they could, for example, delete the queer bits as needed). And MRM's presumably hoping for film adaptations of some sort, too, to squeeze more out of the rights they're grabbing.
