SNEH in a scary movie voice: This is the scariest movie ever... if you're tripping balls. #HATM #Candyman

Ok. I feel like the film never really figured out if the Candyman was a victim out for revenge or just a bad guy or both in a weird mashup? #HATM #Candyman
Also, shouldn't the mistress be waking up on the floor covered in blood with a knife?

The collective #HATM celebration now that Trevor got to meet the hook. 😂

The mistress: I was going to make us a nice dinner
Trevor: Yeah, whatever
SNEH: Women's Lib!

He brings his girlfriend to the funeral. Candyman needs to finish the job. Trevor is just asking to be picked off. #HATM

Nia DaCosta's Candyman (2021) explores the idea of what Candyman really is, framing it as an even more collective trauma, that really plays upon the community here - it is worth a watch if you enjoyed this, building out the mythos in some powerful ways. #Candyman #HATM

SNEH: I was not expecting this to get all Anakin Skywalker

This is the @jstordaily.bsky.social version I assign to my students.

It's a shortened version of what's available in his earlier book: www.pennpress.org/978081222472...

Ah, I thought that was going to be the twist. That she's reincarnated white lady from the original story.
Kinda The Mummy but more willing lady twist. #HATM #Candyman

I think that is a plausible reading that he is drugging her and possible even paying off the gangers to threaten her in the bathroom - that this is just a play on Gaslight. #Candyman #HATM

Tony Todd had live bees in his mouth for this scene, and was paid $1000 for every bee string...earning $27,000 for this scene alone (no CGI here). #Candyman #HATM

SNEH who just sat down to join me: Wait, they cut his hand off?
Me: Yeah, that's the history story in the movie
SNEH: But he got a really sweet hook out of it.

See this is why I like "What Lies Beneath." Creepy professor gets his in the end. Also, I would love if that was streaming for #HATM this year but alas. #Candyman

My only reference for those psych ward doors are Terminator 2. Not sure this doc is going to be any better. #HATM #Candyman

This entire film is actually about Helen's battles with nicotine withdrawal. #HATM

"Be my victim." Unlike most horror movie slashers, Candyman believes in something approaching consent (but this is a pretty kinky relationship in any case). #Candyman #HATM

So seeing lady in psych ward who should be wondering if she hurt someone with a knife or not make me think of Gothika with Halle Berry. Pretty decent scary movie if you haven't seen it. www.imdb.com/title/tt0348... #HATM #Candyman

I'm amazed Trevor bothered to go to the hospital with her. #HATM #Candyman

So far Candyman's scariest power is framing people for murder. #HATM #Candyman

Ok, bonus points for the creepy organ music. #HATM #Candyman
