postcolonial critique made an impact on pretty much every field of literary studies — that’s a good thing. when those fields have then been trusted to advance the political aims of postcolonialism, they have consistently and often spectacularly failed. that’s…less good.

Looks like two new university book contracts are on their way before 2026 year's end. One connected to the Library of Congress work, the other to my political economic/public media research. More to announce in the coming months.

I mean there’s so many good ones, they have different genre periods. Right now they’re basically a 1970s krautrock band. The newest material is actually a good place to start.

Acid Mothers Temple live in Denver. Kawabata Makoto is still one of the best guitarists in the world. About as good as music gets.

I’m thinking with undergrads, notetaking, putting concepts on the board as we read them, connecting them, making sure that students write down what was accomplished in the class as we go along, all pre-canvas stuff.

Ooh I like this - note taking strategy should be a part of it.

I’ve been following along with all the resources for teaching that the universities are offering, I’m gonna make a change in my own teaching next year. So we will find out. I’m guessing that one way to do it will be to print handouts, circa 2010.

“Sitting around and reading books and talking about them.” Sounds quaint, but it was the best practice for the first 2300 years of education, it’s only really changed recently.

For lack of clear rules about the use of AI in classrooms, it’s difficult to steer students toward slow, close reading and analysis. So I’m pretty sure that I’m gonna return to reading together in class and bluebook-style assignments next year.
