(this spell makes two 4/4s and draws a card)
Another powerful one! Remember the order you stack your spell matters- Basri's Solidarity after Antiquities will put a +1/+1 counter on those freshly created spirits.
Selesnya gets some of the most broken Opus spells! Convoke + Buyback is a classic (DIY Sprout Swarm), cheap flashback costs, and the best regrowth effects! I am confident green will be fun here. Here's what I think might be up there for best Opus. 5 mana they die?? Available in go-wide and pump!
Thank you- this deck looks sweet too! Lots of ways to use the Opus! Couple questions I ask: 1) Would you be excited to play this deck? 2) What other options did you consider for your Opus? 3) Was there anything that felt out of place in your draft?
LET'S GO BEN! San Francisco has your back!
Sporadic MtG content: tonight two of my friends and I are playing in the finals of the Lotus League team cube draft tournament, against the end bosses: Hall of Famer LSV and his crew (who are no slouches themselves). We've got this, though. Go Team Big Trees. Watch it at twitch.tv/lsv at 6pm PT
Make sense! Hope I never fall behind, because if I fall behind I am so toast. But the decks where I curve out (higher chance because I'm running 40 billion creatures) I am cooooooking with gas
The logic was that backup is an incredibly powerful ability, so I really tried to limit the non-backup stuff. I wanted to be playing 100% creatures (given my manabase) but Saw in Half did make me pause, card is great here. With backup, having a healthy curve is important. Get out ahead, stay ahead
Well this deck has some curves that are completely busted, Dreadhorde Butcher into Voldaren Thrillseeker is pants shittingly terrifying for opponents (hopefully). 6 Rainbow lands meant I went way into the deep end. The Hoplite seems absurd.
🤝 we shall trade deranged fucked up piles. I'll have you know so far my first 3 picks were Abandoned courtyard, Abandoned courtyard, and Ancient Ziggurat (which could probably be a 3rd abandoned courtyard yannow)
-> opens the list -> first card I see is cruel sadist -> thinks "oh baby we call that POTENTIAL"
Holy shit Scott @ollie.bostoncubeparty.com was not lying you were cooking. Lemme go draft the most deranged pile possible
Then the classics, like e-wit, rec sage, etc. But Xantid Swarm has my heart
Today is as good a day as tomorrow!
Lfg Scott, show us whatchu got!
A very cool dream! I think it might be worth it
This really needs test drafts. I want you all to break the cube, help me weed out the bad play patterns/beyond the pale stuff. What is the most broken opus you can come up with during test drafting? I would love to see it!!
Sure! I went with your suggestion!
Slightly hard for me to justify Zada in the same cube as lightning bolt, but I did consider it! Just worried the removal in the cube surpasses Zada's base rate
Also, I made it so that your Opus can consist of **up to three** instants or sorceries. Unclear if I will stick with this, but in theory you could just Opus High Tide or Glimpse of Nature (not currently in the cube but I did noodle on it)
