Fun movie! Love its love for horror and all the allusions. And I’m a fiend for stop motion. Kids really liked it too. They aren’t ready for Coraline yet but this was a good substitute!

I actually just started Daphne today haha.

“I told her I didn’t want to be in the closet. She told me that’s not where she comes from.” Creeped and crawled into my heart. I lost sleep over this one. Malerman delivers gut-punch after gut-punch leading to an ambiguous ending that’ll break hearts no matter how you turn it.

Not yet, but planning to start this weekend!

I’m so seated that theater employees are asking me to leave and I’m speaking in tongues and they’re so fucking scared right now.

It has a lousy reception but I gotta say, I fucked w/ it despite some goofy unevenness. A has-been comic artist, who created a puppet horror series, is caught in a nasty custody battle over their daughter until his ex is killed. She comes back as a ghost that resembles his art. I dig most WBB flicks

Pretty good time. Clever reveal. Kids enjoyed it.

Haha I actually had that same thought when watching this with Frankie’s dad being an Atticus type character.

This is always on a bunch of gateway horror lists, but it wasn’t on my radar as a kid. Might’ve been a good thing. It’s gateway in the way The Sixth Sense is gateway…it’s not, haha. It’s a step beyond. Chilled me even now. Wonderful film. Might be Alex Rocco’s best performance.

The Odyssey

Great character work all around!

Spotted in the wild! And I situated it a little more prominently lol. 🧛🏿

Very good! Would’ve been obsessed with it as a kid but for some reason I missed it. Has similar vibes to Return to Oz. Beautiful work by Jim Henson. Anjelica Houston is having a blast. That painting scene, and Luke’s first encounter with a witch in his treehouse are so alarming.

Honestly my watchlist is so long that I might feel relieved.

Starting this and aiming to finish before I see Other Mommy next week!
