It's an elaborate system of different rooms and very different styles. Can't do it if there are too many similarities...

And beautiful but tiny little glass milk jugs and titchy little cut glass bowls. Cake plates, pie plates, all this stuff I remember from Aunty Else's house - but I never twigged she had so many of them.

Been sorting through all my great aunt's stuff from my cousin's house and it's a real dive into kitchen history. Pyrex casserole dishes - dozens of them, and there were only 3 of them in the house. Now there's two of us in this house and I've got dozens more Pyrex casserole dishes I hardly use.

Spent yesterday on my yearly return to the days of my youth - watching Bathurst. (And yes I know ...)

So my #JustFinishedReading didn't change a lot but there was some movement (not enough room to list here sorry - so a link)

Had been looking forward to Recipe of the Year but should have known the ABC would manage to include something offensive. Give me a tattooed vegetarian over a sanctimonious CWA representative any day. QI repeat it is.

okay so this anecdote in Margaret's obituary has me crying because this is exactly what it's like being in tech and trying to anticipate failures and having men basically tell you you're being hysterical and then you have to fix it later

"the Lauren error": One day, her daughter Lauren, then four years old, was playing with the command module simulator at the
Instrumentation Lab when she somehow activated a pre-launch program, called P01, while the simulator was in midflight - which
crashed the simulator altogether. Hamilton created a program add-on in the technical documentation warning users not to launch P01 during flight.
She also proposed a software fix to prevent the error happening during a real mission, but she was overruled on the grounds that the highly trained astronauts were never going to make that same mistake. Yet during the Apollo 8 mission in 1968, that's exactly what happened: Jim Lovell inadvertently launched P01 during the flight, causing the on-flight navigational data to vanish. Hamilton and her team were called in to solve the error, and after that her proposed changes were integrated into the program. This was an early example of "defensive" programming, the

RIP Margaret Hamilton. Lead software engineer for the Apollo program. Here she is standing next to the code she wrote to send humans to the moon. Barack Obama gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.

Spent a fascinating afternoon at the East Loddon Woolshed at an arts event yesterday. This place has to be seen to be believed.

Exhibition is finished now but if you get a chance to see Amanda Western's work - she's amazing as well.

I mean as reminders that it's snake time it was a reasonable outcome. Better than confronting one of the Eastern Brown's up close and way too personally, but could have lived without the initial heart palpitations at the sight of a flailing native bird.

@austcrimefiction.orgSep 29, 2026, 5:33 AM

The outcome - Magpies won the bird fight and saw both wedgies off. Snake managed to escape in the panic of us arriving on scene as well. Eagles took to the air mildly pissed off with everybody.
