When we talk about taxing the super-rich this is what we mean... Only 0.03% of the UK population has wealth of more than £10 million. & someone with £11,000,000 would pay just £20,000 with our Wealth Tax proposal.

When people hear "tax the rich more", they often think we mean doctors, lawyers or directors on six-figure salaries, paying 40%+. But we don't. We're talking about billionaires & multi millionaires, paying lower rates than nurses. Our own Faiza Shaheen sets it straight on LBC.

Gary is just 1 of the 120 @PatrioticMillionairesuk that signed an demanding Burnham tax them more.

And, despite what you might see in the press, Gary is part of the majority. 80% of UK millionaires support a 2% tax on wealth over £10million.

Tax is one of the clearest ways our society lives its values. With so much negativity in the press, we wanted to balance the books by sharing stories from our supporters about what tax makes possible. Thanks to Gillian for sharing hers. 💛 What has tax made possible for you?

No, the UK isn't a poor country (its the 19th richest). No, we're not suggesting we "frisk" people at airports. No, the rich aren't scared of a tax they can easily afford. & No, we shouldn't base policy on fabricated data.

Turns out "this summer" was actually ten years ago... 👀

Funny how basic fact-checking goes out the window when billionaire-owned newspapers see a chance to scare us away from taxing billionaires.

We can’t even count the number of headlines we’ve seen recently talking about "Tax raids”. A raid is what Viking pillagers did to coastal villages, and robbers do to homes. It's a very strange way to describe the process through which a democratic society ensures decent lives for its communities.

Britain can’t rebuild on vibes. It needs investment.

That means getting serious about the Tax gap. Because right now £59Billion— enough to pay for free school meals AND affordable childcare AND build 1.45M social homes— is being lost to non-payment.

Thank you @jemmaforte for saying it like it is. 👏 Extreme inequality is a doom-loop, if we don't tackle it soon it will continue to drive our economy to stagnation & make a mockery of our democracy.

If it feels like ordinary people can’t win in the UK, it’s because mega‑corps, & the mega‑rich have stitched us up.

How? They lobby Westminster every day for loopholes, opt‑outs & giveaways.

We need a People’s Lobby to take them on. Be a part of it.

It's been 2 weeks since we delivered a message in a bottle from ̶1̶5̶0̶,̶0̶0̶0̶ ̶ 180,000 of you to No 10 North... now just 3 weeks left to see if he listened. 💰Hoarded wealth is holding us all back.

The UK has been milked for profit & left to rot by decades of underinvestment. If Burnham really wants to rebuild, he'll need a good Budget not just good vibes. That means a budget that reinvests by taxing the super‑rich. 📺 Our very own Faiza Shaheen on GMB back in August.

WE SAY NO TO PALANTIR 🙅‍♂️

We and 120+ organisations and unions across Europe are calling on our governments and the European Commission to scrap all existing public sector contracts with Palantir.

Read the open letter here: www.globaljustice.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Text reads: 120+ organisations and unions across Europe call on governments and the European Commission to SCRAP Palantir contracts. Palantir provides support to warmongers, drains our public wealth, deepens our dependence on tech billionaires. WE SAY NO TO PALANTIR.

That’s not just a smart and fair way to find the investment Britain needs to thrive, but would show Burnham is serious about his promise, to end the era of big money and vested interests calling the shots. 5/5

even if they’re framed as incentives to work, they’d undermine progress at every step. If Burnham is serious about delivering on his vision, the Budget must ask those with the broadest shoulders to contribute more, from the mega-rich to the biggest corporations. 4/5

@taxjusticeuk.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 11:14 AM

...vision now needs to become action. The direction of travel is promising, but how we get there matters too. We've heard plenty about fiscal rules and welfare reform, but very little about tax. The reality is that we can't fund national renewal with cuts... 3/5

@taxjusticeuk.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 11:14 AM

After years of chasing divisive & distractionary talking points, it was incredibly refreshing to see a focus on returning power from boardrooms & billionaires to communities & families. But as we head towards a Budget that's meant to be about building not bodging... 2/5

Andy Burnham's speech yesterday felt like a genuine shift from vibes to vision & to unity from division. There was a lot to welcome: serious commitments on social care, green energy, housing, devolution, electoral reform & greater public control of essential services... 🧵1/5

The UK is one of the richest countries in the world. So, why are so many people struggling? Simple: too much wealth is concentrated at the top. Here's how modest taxes, on those who can most afford it, could transform lives across the country. What would you spend it on?

@taxjusticeuk.bsky.socialSep 29, 2026, 4:15 PM

We all know tax goes up the more you earn... right? 🤔 Not quite. For most people, yes. But at the very top, something strange happens.. Average tax rates paid: 💷 Top 10% → 39% 💷 Top 1% → 37% 💷 Top 0.1% → 34% 💷 Top 0.01% → 30% And 1 in 4 of the ultra-rich pay 20% or less.
