Earlier this year, E3G released a big report with the Department of War Studies at Kings College which showed that our dependence on gas is a major national security risk. Cutting heat pumps to fund defence is like not paying for a flu jab so you can buy lemsip. It makes no sense.

It would seem the Home Office has now acquired the ability to impose, without visibility or accountability, shadow bans on students coming to British universities from particular countries. How? Because of the interaction between indiv visa decisions (made by HO alone) and visa rules for unis 1/?

A great advocate for historians in general, often unsung, as well as a nice person and a superb historian of the early Middle Ages.

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

Labour's candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali was a clear asset to Labour in the by-election: on her personality and approach. Voters felt she had strong local connections to the area - as she of course did, having lived in the area since she was a child, after being born 4000 miles from Camden in Somalia

NEWS: We’re pleased to announce that Berthold Lubetkin’s Festival of Britain bus shelter in Hillesley, Gloucestershire, has been listed Grade II, following a recent application by C20. The Cotswold vernacular structure is believed to be a unique example of Lubetkin working in a traditional manner.

A lot of the cheap academic books of the past were driven by very large sales to HE (especially in the US)...no longer so available to publishers. I leave as an open question whether there is a large non-HE sale available to publishers for the likes of Schumpeter...
