day 5. blood

I bought Welcome to Elderfield last night, and my god, so far it's exactly what I wanted. I was expecting "Stardew Valley meets World of Horror", and I'm getting it. Getting to listen to Dated's OST is just...muah! So happy his passion project came together this well. My entire October is sold.

It's not every day you find the right set-up to write Hurt/Comfort AND Hurt/No Comfort in the same fic. 😈

I did/am! Of course, The Fucking State of Things has had the penultimate chapter stuck in development hell for a whole year (😫) but there's obviously a fuckton of story before that to enjoy. RS is absolutely the B-plot ship - and how much I ship it...isn't necessarily a good thing for Vox.

Alastor needed to have his no-friends arc to get the narrative where it needs to be, and getting along with anybody at the Hotel well enough to feel like a part of the family vs. outside-looking-in (see S1 Niffty talk) wouldn't have pushed him into the places he needed to be pushed by S3. 😩 I mourn.

My first focus is going to be getting good at mending, to help clothes and furniture last longer, but if I can stick with it I want to get to the level of making clothes from upcycled fabric - eco-friendly w/ the potential to provide income/contribute to mutual aid at sustainable cost.

I've been a fairly advanced knitter for years, but my recent balm for eco/economic anxiety has been figuring out an in-demand skill to learn, & it's finally got me deepening my surface-level sewing. Reinforcing an old blanket today, feels good to do something that doesn't require much brainpower.

I don’t think he likes being picked up
