What is your favorite one? what do you agree with or disagree with?

@carfree-cities.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 4:53 PM

What would you put in a climate manifesto? Some of the sections we included :
1. We need action on climate now
3. The name of the game is decarbonization
4. Cool our cities - vital steps of climate adaptation
7. Depoliticize climate and the environment.

Here is the original thread that inspired this response: bsky.app/profile/carf...

A large-scale switch to EV driving would involve tremendously negative effects of battery mining, disrupting communities around the world. This has been well documented already. Our proposal: reduce the overall volume of car use.

A fan of Electric Vehicles (EVs) are you? We just recently posted this Andy Singer cartoon as a response (will link to that in comments). But wanted to make a direct post here. This explains quite well how EVs help in just one (1) area, but automobiles come with doze s of problems.

Cartoon by Andy Singer: "The environmental impacts of a car" it shows how electric vehicles only eliminate tailpipe emissions, but so many other impacts are left unsolved, such as traffic crashes, tire dust, mining, heat impacts, asphalt and concrete, urban and rural land destroyed by roads, lack of place for kids and nature, and the list goes on.

We're sorry to rain on your parade, but EVs are hardly the solve-all option. A large-scale switch to EV driving would involve tremendously negative effects of battery mining, disrupting communities around the world (just 1 example). A much better recipe: reduce the overall volume of car use.

Never too late to restart a worthy tradition :)

Just in time for World Carfree Day, we launched a new manifesto, which creates the link between climate and cooler cities.
"Revolution" refers to what our mental frameworks and approach to cities badly need.

Have a read! And let us know what you think :)

One of the best ways to experience fietsgeluk (cycling happiness) is by pedalling together as an expression of community, and the Cycling Without Age Bike Parade in Budapest was no exception. At a time when cycling has become so politically divisive, it was a beautiful, communal act of celebration!

Excellent list of ways to cool our cities, Lior Steinberg!

This area has all the potential to be a great pedestrian neighborhood and public space. And yes, it could have a lightouse effect 'round the world. We reached out to the local neighborhood association, and we'd love to watch closely as things unfold.

This is something we would definitely endorse. If there is an opening to do this, do it!

@carfree-cities.bsky.socialSep 10, 2026, 3:34 PM

Thank you for sharing this! Finding ways to engender more cooperation, and move away from competition is immensely vital.

Yes, agreed. But those of us immersed in the world of trying to help usher in a better future, and working on progressive change and sustainability --- we could be doing better at working more together. collaborating and being less fractured. Employing collective intelligence and power.

100 thousand percent agreed. But then the 100 thousand million billion quadrillion gazillion question is, how?! Open for any creative or workable ways.
