Another bike guy, I guess.
Saint Paul, free state of Minnesota

Hi, I’m a sighted alt text user! Here are some reasons I use it: - Slow Internet on an airplane - I’m over 40, I have no idea who that celebrity is - Bluesky broke images again - My vision sucks and that text is too small to read otherwise - Conveys further context and authorial intent
I found out American Fietser drives sometimes! Canceled!
How dare you exercise a diversity of transport options!
(Reposted via @isaacinmpls.bsky.social -- needed alt text and a link, because ya know, internet)
What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff
And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.
A shackled detainee was thrown to the ground, placed in a WRAP full-body restraint, and carried onto today's ICE Air flight at MSP.
This is the first time we've seen the device used in Minnesota.
If a loved one may have been aboard, full loading sequence is here: youtube.com/watch?v=MEMv2ngB1GI
We're well-equipped to document these flights in Minnesota, but our neighbors in other states could use a hand - if you're able to chip in a few bucks to help get them gear, it'd be appreciated: ottergoose.net/ice
(and maybe more importantly, contracts/relationships)
But also yeah, probably in preparation for liquidation/exit. These fucks have so much infrastructure deployed, another company (like Axon) would love to purchase them at a bargain basement price, and the founders would love to cash out.
Taxi licenses. An idea as old as motorized transport that we sorta forgot about in service of "disruption" which actually just ended up being enshittification, since taxis just needed apps, and now they all have them
My screenshot may look slightly different (square corners) because I have a userChrome.css file with some tweaks
If you hate the new rounded everything in the Firefox UI facelift, you can turn it off by setting browser.nova.enabled = false in about:config
The hard ones will be cleaning up their mess. So it goes
I dunno where the funding for Hourcar is "supposed" to come from, but I do know the Minnesota state legislature kinda still works, and can pick up funding gaps like this. Look up your representatives here and CALL THEM. Don't be shy, you'll probably get voicemail.
Less than the likely cost of two lawsuit settlements against a current StP city council member.... Seriously, this is a pathetically small amount in the scheme of budgets and sadly reminiscent of Nice Ride getting shut down because the core cities don't back up policy with budget support.
This gap is less than it cost the mayor to put a bounce house in the warehouse district for a summer. This is 1/33 the cost of MPS's surprise overtime. They renovated Target Center in part by making us, the citizens, pay $74 million via a sales tax. WE. HAVE. MONEY. We can spend it in better places
We don't have a fast transit network here in the Twin Cities metro. What we have is buses and trams, which are reliable, but slow. Cars, like them or not, are often 5-10x faster than traditional public transit here. Hourcar needs to stay around. Fund it!
Public transit, of which car sharing services are a part, is not profitable -- because it creates efficiency for everyone (even non-users) vs. generating direct value. The nonprofit model does not work unless tax revenue is a large part. Hourcar and others should be publicly funded. /rant
