Steady as she goes is no longer an option. Burnham needs to use the power of the PM's office. A 🧵

Most MPs get it: trying and failing is not enough.

Labour needs to work out how to pull the levers of power.

Former Labour Deputy Leader Lord Thomas Watson, now Senior VP at Palantir UK, wrote to me defending their public contracts. Instead of trading letters, I’ve challenged him to an open, public debate. He can defend Palantir’s ethos; I’ll argue for public accountability. Will you accept, Tom?

Formal letter from Clive Lewis MP, Member of Parliament for Norwich South, to Lord Thomas Watson of Wyre Forest, Senior Vice President of Palantir Technologies UK Limited, dated 7 October 2026. In the letter, Lewis challenges Watson to a public debate regarding Palantir's role in government contracts and public institutions. Lewis rejects Watson's claim that criticisms malign software engineers, stressing that elected officials must scrutinize corporate power, democratic control, and public accountability. He proposes a debate with an impartial chair, equal time, and audience questions.

Private health parasitises the NHS It tends not to have A&Es & Intensive Care Units because they are expensive/unprofitable For real emergencies & for dumping of unprofitable patients, it uses the NHS In the former case, the extra time private patients take getting to the NHS is a risk for them

Yes, and most politicians do not understand that damage it does.

We wrote a report to help them.

Palantir has long regarded what they call 'mass democracy' as mob rule.

Billionaire David Reuben says he quit UK for Monaco ... actually already there since 2014. Worth £28bn, objects to non-dom tax changes. Doesn't want to be taxed on the same basis as UK residents Super-rich happy to make profits in the UK, want special treatment, hold govts to ransom.

I thought I had seen it all, but this is an astonishing new low, putting the US in the company of Iran, Afghanistan and N Korea. I abhor the death penalty. The idea that kids, including my own, might see such an execution shocks me to the core. Abhorrent, barbaric, sick, warped, cruel and twisted.

Funny how these errors always seem to head in the same direction. A bit like Richard Tice's tax mistakes.

The Prime Minister is the most powerful person in the UK.

Is that too much power, or too little?

@vincegomez.com was also a key speaker last week at the LPC fringe, explaining how Burnham can still create renewal -- and why he need not fear the Bond Markets.

Yes, and when the private sector screws up, it is the NHS that must pick up the pieces, at whatever cost. A textbook example of the government privatising the profit and socialising the risk
