Overly fond of oolite, stars, folklore, photography, beetroot, fossils & other old things (& The Fall). All photographs my own, unless stated or reposted. Not the light! Not the light! IS IT BIN DAY?
The right decision I think. I really like them As podcasts but the book looks handsome & irresistible.
Headscarves seemed universal for women then. Often worn to protect a “perm” as I recall.

Got my nails done! Witchy fingers. Love the fitted comfort of the things & their velvet insides: beech mast as autumn’s foxgloves. Saw me a goshawk too. Silent as a barn owl down the ride, jinked away & sliced through the wood; might as well’ve flown through my open mouth and out the other side.
I’ve been re-reading Alexei Sayles’ intensely inventive short stories. Even better than I remember them. Would you like to borrow them

Work on the land or wear a headscarf?
I quite like it but it’s best to hear a classical musician playing Dowland properly

It would really help. Thank you.
Hello Marc.
What a remarkable band! One of my favourites. I had the 3D EP
I’ve not seen anything about this on national mainstream media. I wonder why?

Always does
Sharing our top four finds so far this year for #UKFungusDay.
Giant puffball
Sulphur tufts
Porcelain Fungus
Poplar Fieldcap.
How about you? What's been your best find so far in 2026?
Could be a scene from my childhood. My mother used to “work on the land” & during school holidays I woud be with her. I remember picking up potatoes from the freshly turned soil & putting them in sacks. I loved it, but I was much closer to the ground being about 6 years old. 1964 ish
I’ve never heard that one before! Absolute bollocks!
If you love traditional songs you should listen to Handed Down. Each episode looks in fascinating depth at the cultural, historical & musical aspects of a folk song. There are over 40 episodes to chose from.
‘The smoke's smell, too,
Flowing from where a bonfire burns
The dead, the waste, the dangerous,
And all to sweetness turns.
It is enough
To smell, to crumble the dark earth,
While the robin sings over again
Sad songs of Autumn mirth.’
