The yellow heart emoji ⟨💛⟩ is mistakenly displayed as a pink "hairy heart" ⟨a pink heart symbol with marks representing short hair.⟩ in Google's Android 4.4 mobile operating system (released 2013) because Google's emoji art team misinterpreted the dots in Unicode's black-and-white reference images ⟨Heart symbol with dots.⟩ as being hair stubble. In reality, the dotted pattern is simply used as a colorless way to represent the color yellow (in accordance with heraldic hatching).

Super honoured by the inclusion of The Killing of a Chestnut Tree in November's Indie Next list, voted on by the independent booksellers of America. An enormous thanks to everyone who nominated! So excited for Havelock and Sebastian to be out in the world later this month! 🌳

The cover of The Killing of a Chestnut Tree - a fantasy novella by Oliver K. Langmead - accompanied by an Indie Next: Booksellers Recommend stamp, and the words THANK YOU, BOOKSELLERS!

Wasn’t able to secure any review code for HELLRAISER unfortunately. But I found this amazing FB clip of Doug Bradley doing a Scouse Pinhead and now I’m crying from laughter. He’s amazing. (Source: YMH Podcast.)

(Im)mortal enemies, demonic pacts, and Ebenezer Scrooge: Ghost Hunter – October's new books are packed with the strange and fantastical. Which are you most excited for?

You're never too old to get excited about seeing a really big tree.

Some days I wonder how my life might have been different if I had really, seriously committed myself to brass rubbing

This month! Which is terrifying, honestly. Managed to squeeze a little poetry in there, too...

Hell yeah! Very tough getting them published, let me tell you. Have a new long-ish SFF poem out next year, though...

The Rouse is secretly just an elaborate ploy by Mieville to get his readers as ripped as he is

I'm a little bit proud to report two books I edited are on the shortlist for the Aldiss Award - CITY OF ALL SEASONS by @oliverklangmead.bsky.social & Aliya Whiteley, and THE GRIMOIRE GRAMMAR SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION by @caitlinrozakis.bsky.social. Two super good, and very different, books!
