@rozlovesfood.bsky.socialI am awake. The cats are fed. I am fed. There have not yet been an emergencies, and hopefully there won't be any today. Reader, may you also be blessed with a fed and emergency*-free day. * personal emergencies. I acknowledge we live in a 24/7 dumpster fire so there's always an emergency somewhere

@rozlovesfood.bsky.socialcw cancer: . . . to top it all off, one of Mom's friends was diagnosed with the cancer that took Dad. We're roughly 5 years (less 5 weeks) since he passed. I'm not sure I'm yet in a space where I can help, but Mom desperately *wants* to help, in case anything we learned is useful. I get it. But OW.

@rozlovesfood.bsky.socialMy inlaws did not know what the Waffle House Weather Index was, and after I explained it, I am pretty sure they think I'm mildly unhinged. We don't doubt the Waffle House Weather Index around here.

@rozlovesfood.bsky.socialthat would have been my Mom back in the day. She hasn't had guns since the 80s though. Whew.
@rozlovesfood.bsky.socialOh fuck that noise, jeez. I hate it when we're give guidelines/rules and then people are surprised when we're pissed those weren't adhered to because something was more convenient for them. Rude. Glad cats are secured!

@rozlovesfood.bsky.socialOct is shaping up like Sept, which means caregiving is still in high gear. Next week is multiple drs + estate planning w an attorney. I don't know who needs to hear this, but if your fam has printed DIY forms for health care directives or wills, they aren't legally binding documents. Pay a lawyer.
