Heating oil prices have nearly doubled over the course of Trump’s war with Iran. It’s making it more expensive for Granite Staters to heat their homes. I introduced the American Homes First Act to increase LIHEAP funding by redirecting $1 billion from President Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ slush fund.

I met with NH small businesses that are hurting because of Congress’s failure to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits. They’re worried they won’t be able to keep providing health insurance to their employees. I’m fighting to lower health care costs for families, seniors, and small businesses.

Edgar Austin of Rollinsford courageously served in the U.S. Army during WWII. When his family realized his medals were missing, they reached out to my office for help. We were able to get his Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart returned to his daughter, Beverly Hanson of Barrington.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Early detection of breast cancer through routine screening can mean less extensive treatment, more treatment options, and better outcomes. Talk to your health care provider to learn what’s best for you.

Affordable housing projects like Neighborworks’ Apartments at Pearl and Orange are how we address housing needs in our state: working together toward creative solutions.

As Granite Staters facing high energy prices, NH Community Action agencies are seeing more people reach out for heating assistance. We must be taking every action to lower costs and provide relief. I'm working to increase federal support for heating assistance & expand eligibility to more families.

The ACA enhanced premium tax credits helped Granite Staters afford health coverage, but last year Republicans refused to extend them to keep insurance affordable. Now people can’t afford to stay on their insurance and maintain coverage, putting their health at risk.

I colead the Mental Health Services for Students Act and the Prevent Youth Suicide Act because investments in schools ensure they have the training and resources to connect children in need with mental health support. No one should ever feel alone in this fight. #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek

Fuel and electric assistance programs funded by LIHEAP are available through New Hampshire Community Action Agencies to help Granite Staters afford to heat and cool their homes.

Pre-applications are open now. Learn more at your area’s agency at www.capnh.org/cap-lookup

Fuel assistance is so important to New Hampshire families and seniors as we head into the winter months. I checked in with local Community Action Agency leaders on what they’re seeing on the ground as I fight to get more federal funding for this critical program.

Each individual honored at the New Hampshire Congressional Law Enforcement Awards Ceremony represents the very best that our state has to offer. Thank you to Officer Ainsley Bruno of the Franklin Police Dept., Officer Syntia Tine of the Belmont Police Dept., and all our officers.

These funds will help ensure veterans get the care they need when they need it, and that support and resources are in place to help save veteran lives. I've worked across the aisle to deliver resources for suicide prevention and will keep fighting for every veteran to get the support they deserve.

No elected official should be able to profit off insider information from their public service.

It’s past time to ban stock trading by the President, VP, and Members of Congress, including spouses and dependents.

NH households could pay $2,300 for home heating oil this winter–a 31% increase–because of President Trump’s war with Iran. While I continue fighting to stop this war, I’ve also introduced bills to provide immediate relief and lower energy costs, including the Consumer Fuel Prices Relief Act.

This administration is delaying the release of grant funding for a program that helps people living with HIV/AIDS have the safe housing and stability they need.

This jeopardizes people’s health and well-being. HUD must release these funds immediately.

The 988 LGBTQ+ Youth lifeline is proven to save LGBTQ+ children’s lives. It was a cruel move by the Trump administration to cut this service. But we fought back, and we won. To anyone struggling, you are never alone. Call or text 9-8-8 for help.

James, a veteran from NH, had to come out of retirement because he couldn’t make ends meet. Granite Staters are seeing their energy bills more than double and have spent an extra thousand dollars at the pump and filling their fuel tanks because of President Trump's war. People need relief now.

Pappas’s New Bills to Lower Energy CostsThe LIHEAP Act would expand the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), one of the most successful programs aimed at reducing energy costs for working families. The American Homes First Act would increase funding for LIHEAP by redirecting $1 billion from President Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ slush fund. The Consumer Fuel Prices Relief Act would provide federal fuel tax relief until the end of September 2027 by pausing the gas tax, the diesel tax, and the aviation fuel tax, while ensuring the benefit is immediately passed on to consumers in full.
