Grab the popcorn (and maybe a barf bag), because volume two of my A-to-Z guide to the most beautifully terrible horror cinema is officially out in the world!

That sounds fantastic. Maybe save some of the garlic and make some compound butter to go with the bread.

Book 48 - Redemption by #DavidBaldacci. This is a fast-paced and complex thriller with a smartly developed plot. I did not realise this was the 5th in a series, but I never felt lost or confused. #BlueSkyBooks #ThrillerBooks #MysteryBook

That is a solid writing session, congratulations.

I’ll be the first to admit I’m terrible at keeping you all in the loop, but I actually have news! My wonderfully weird A to Z book is officially with the proofreader, and the cover design is currently underway. Things are moving fast behind the scenes! Can’t wait to show you what we’re cooking up.

As soon as I met the main characters, I wanted to bail on this film. But I stuck with it as "research" for my third book, and yes, it is an ugly film, and the ending is so clichéd it tanks an already horrible film. The acting is terrible, and the plot is predictable. #HorrorMovies

A decent #GhostFilm, although not a #HorrorFilm. Lukas Haas is wonderful in the main role. #80sHorror

It is more a mockbuster of Flatliners than Pet Sematary. It is an interesting premise, if there is little else to it.

The trajectory of my #Letterboxd log is a happy story, going from a mockbuster of a cat terrorising young adults for 90 minutes, to a moody atmosphere that loses its footing, to a 70s Italian psychological thriller ending with classic 90s sci-fi nightmare fuel. #HorrorCommunity #LetterboxdFriday

That shift is brutal. It went from a mixture of cars, beers and random weirdness to feeling like a 24/7 bingo hall. Here in the UK, for example, there is a "whistle-to-whistle" ban on advertising betting apps during live sporting events.

A great psychological terror, with its exquisite building of tension, it is such a shame about the ending. The design of the ship, with its gothic and mechanical elements, is perfect. #HorrorMovies #90sHorror #SciFiHorror

It was engaging, but it is so emotionally dark that it is uncomfortable.

A colourful, if derivative, film, it was one I wanted to look at, but it was ruined every time someone spoke, possibly not helped by the voiceover. The film lacks suspense, and the acting is average. #HorrorMovies #Giallo #PsychologicalThriller #ItalianHorror #ItalianCinema

There is no tax incentive, just the cruel, unyielding tax of having to watch Johnny Depp bury some jewellery in the desert on a Tuesday night.

I am really sorry today was such a brutal grind. On days like that, the best thing you can do is aggressively clock out mentally and sink into something comforting. Whatever went down today, you made it through.

What did you think of it? It completely blindsided me when I stumbled upon it.

Just got back from a magical #SeedTalks event on The History of #FolkHorror with #DrBillieGavurin. My #ReadingList and watchlist just grew by a mile. #HorrorCommunity #FilmBuff #FolkHorrorCinema #FilmCommunity #EerieFolk #FilmLover #TalksAndLectures #EveningLectures

I agree that multiple viewings would add texture to the film. But as a Welsh person, hearing my accent and language in a film will always make me happy.

@stormywriter.bsky.socialOct 6, 2026, 8:21 PM

I am not sure what I just watched; the film is purposely ambiguous, with scenes more about metaphors than plot. Dev Patel and Rosy McEwan give restrained performances. What particularly stood out was the sound design, which was perfect at establishing atmosphere. #HorrorMovies #FolkHorror
