In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

got my covid and flu shots yesterday and am achy and a bit bleh today BUT normally I feel like death for 2-3 days, so this is a pleasant surprise. love when my body is nice to me for a change!!

obviously. im definitely not obsessed with those things. or that book. nope. not at all!!!

yesss I do feel the immediate need to tidy up the space because I just haven't had the energy, so it felt very good to be able to make my room especially feel less stifling!!

by resting mean also not writing—I haven't written for the last 2-3 weeks to remove some tasks and recover from an intensely-paced few months. it's hard when writing is rest and also work, taking a break from writing is sometimes important! BUT NEXT WEEK I return to discovery drafting my novel 👀

I finished my first half of the semester, yaaaay!! annnnd I immediately deep dusted my bedroom compulsively because I had been wanting to do it for ages and never had the time. I THINK that's restful, if it feels good to be in a less dusty space??? but yes now to try to relax for real for 2 days!!

so email spam these days is clearly scraping from bsky posts because I called OTHERSIDE the GAY MAGAZINE in my excited flailing about Issue 3—aaand now I'm getting multiple spam emails starting with "congratulations on Gay Magazine" and at least that makes it obvious spam AND hilarious all at once 😂

juggling all the things is hard, and learning when to stop juggling all the side hustles and tasks at once to prioritize the ones that need doing so you have time to recover is even harder (and not always possible, if life is doing the most). but!! I am trying 💜

finally feel like I'm reaching a balance with college to rest ratio, even though I feel guilty that it's meant dropping most TTRPG and streaming related things during semesters. but... the rest is nice, and it leaves me time to write again 😭

I am hereby bogposting as far as that's possible, short of posting from nearby or within an actual peat bog. Anyway, please enjoy my extended take on what peat bog and bog body stories tend to have in common beyond really tremendous motifs.

thanks y'all for the kind words 💜 I like to be honest about things—we tend to only see the highs of writing/creative careers, so we can feel like we suck in comparison. so!! if you also struggle with "am I good enough??" thoughts, you're not alone! they're part of the process, for better or worse 😭
