When the Telegraph revisited the claim that Kate was one of the so-called "racist royals", it dismissed it as “false rumours” - enlightening us as to how they knew the allegation was false. Has word gone down that this is how the allegation is to be framed now by the British press?
The Fail has been going after members of the #SussexSquad for a while. And now a bigger boy has joined the fight.
The question is why the conduct of Meghan's defenders is being placed under such intense scrutiny without giving equal attention to the environment in which that defence has developed.
The more firmly the distinction between inside and outside is emphasised, the more every successful appearance outside the Firm risks becoming a test of its importance. The king’s statement reminding us that Harry and Meghan aren’t “working” royals only made things worse.

"After all these centuries, we’re still irresistibly drawn to stories about people who challenge power."
I don't know what's going on with their PR, but there've been a lot of debacles
I’m not in Britain obviously, but this latest PR debacle feels like it was a failure. Everyone knew what was going on here.
I suspect they were chauffered to Slough station, only a 10 or 15 minute drive from Windsor Castle
There could hardly be a more fitting place for this highly-anticipated appearance than Nottingham. Beneath all of the arguments lies the same question Nottingham has been asking for centuries:
What happens when somebody refuses to stay in the role society has assigned them?
It was a great idea. A royal boards a train, a passenger photographs her, newspapers transform an everyday journey into a parable of humility. They would have gotten away with it too, if not for the pesky real passengers taking actual snaps of the whole set up.
Carrying someone forward is different from remaining trapped in the moment they left. And perhaps the most under-appreciated aspect of Harry's story is how much good has grown out of his grief.

yep. evidence means nothing to the British press
nope
All the evidence points to the fact that it’s the Sussexes who wouldn’t want to take part in the royals’ Christmas Day.
Two women sitting down together whose lives have been shaped, in very different ways, by the same question:
What happens when women refuse to stay within the boundaries society sets for them?

Defenders of Britain's royal press insist newspapers merely reflect what readers think. Yet screenshots like these suggest a media ecosystem that doesn’t simply observe outrage but cultivates it, and then points at the resulting crop as proof that outrage existed all along.
The traditional royal model is built around visibility. Harry's preferred causes have encouraged him to build projects that require sustained attention beyond the occasional public appearance. This is a different rhythm of work
These aren’t the words of reconciliation, they’re the words of submission. Clearly, they’re not words the anonymous source heard from anyone in the Sussex camp
