Same!
Got out to Portland Retro Game Expo for the first time in ages! Didn't know @pizzapranks.bsky.social was going to be tabling there, but it was an awesome surprise. Got to pick up physical editions of both @unluckychloe.bsky.social and @brookp8.bsky.social releases that are super sick!
I hate to ask, but I'm short on an important bill and anything helps. I got a second day job to prevent exactly this situation in the future but this bill is due before I'll be able to get paid 🤡 ko-fi.com/grimdev/goal...
Come stop by the Indiepocalypse booth (824) at the Portland Retro Game Expo and help me clean out the last of my physical stock following this long string of events. (before i then need to rebuild for the next string)
The Indiepocalypse booth is all set up at the Portland Retro Game Expo! Come check it out at booth 824 and get some new(?!) physical indie game releases!
Do you make (or have you ever made) games that are short, abrasive, experimental, or otherwise don't fit in the familiar commercial games space?
Then you're in luck because Indiepocalypse is out here publishing those sorts of games!

Or in a more provocative way of putting it, people would do well to be more embarrassed by liking the popular commercial product of the day and feel the need to seek their own unique taste in games whether or not there is e another single soul talking about those games. (better if there aren't?)
But! Maybe it shouldn't be that way? I feel the youngest part of "games are a young medium" is people's tastes. (in that it's very narrow and basic) It's just odd that commercial game design still looms so large while people have been making a wide range of artistic works in games basically always.
It is with a heavy heart that I admit I was baited into posting (quote posting even) by some online cheap heat, forgetting my own important guiding advice that most discussion about games online is about games as an Industry and not games as an Art Form.
And as added benefit (that I forget to add) is that I am continually traveling the world, bringing this games to events big and small where I find they have a warm reception whether it's a small art-focused event or a big noisy trade show!

This is not targeted at any one of these instances in particular (because obviously), but there is a certain fatigue that sets in as I *keep* seeing these vague gestures that tend not to acknowledge the people (like myself in this instance) are actually already doing this thing people say they want!
It's very easy to do and I even have some in a shop!
This is the 3rd or 4th time in a month I have tagged into someone pitching the idea of selling physical games at events or otherwise in-person and I can say from doing it for years at events at various scales all over the place, that it works well.
I interviewed game dev Henry Sarunic about his Lovecraftian horror-comedy RPG, Apartment Complex!
Apartment Complex was featured in the 60th issue of Indiepocalypse, put out by @pizzapranks.bsky.social, and the interview can be read for free on their official site:
