Yeah it’s delicious and entirely in-character conflict, my absolute favorite thing! While I have some issues with the fisherman thing (ok mostly just one) the seeds setup for it in this scene and the morning after are super chewy and I love it

Ed did ask to take it slow and they aren’t doing this out of mutual love and readiness, it’s pretty explicitly because Stede needs comfort and Ed is willing to offer it) And I’m sure there’s heaps more! This show has some really clever filmmaking choices that I really enjoy!

And then there’s the generally used symbolism of mirrors in film, things like psychological distress and duality, and collapsing of different realities, that gives subtle cues to the viewer that there’s something not entirely right about what’s happening (bc as much as I LOVE that moment
