One thing I've noticed lately is that, to me, a lot of overtly dark lyrics in rock and metal music I've heard so far, feel more like warnings against evil and corruption, or even mockeries of it, instead of a full-on endorsement like a lot of overprotective 1980s parents had people believe. Weird.
