Just realized today is my 9 year anniversary of my first ever Twitch stream, which also is when I officially became a speedrunner. I can't believe it's been that long already. Even though it's taken a backseat for the past while, I'm still very happy to be in this community and do this hobby. Ty!

The people that use it are usually talented enough to create great things without it. I feel they should know better by now, especially in this community.

personally hate the people that use Claude. I get it: it saves time. And the intentions are usually good. But genAI is unethical, and I can’t use/support projects that decide to use it. I’ve seen Claude literally steal my friends’ code. It’s just a plagiarism machine like all other genAI programs.

I think any use of genAI is immoral and immediately tarnishes any project no matter how small its use is. I know it's harsh, but it has to be if you want change. Because you brought it up, yes I will never use RankedRuns and have deleted my TheRun profile, and will encourage others to do the same.

First of all, I said “using Claude AI slop”, not “these sites are AI slop”. Second of all, you’re assuming I’m talking about specific sites when I intentionally didn’t call out any of them. I personally try to boycott anything that uses Claude, but don’t care enough to publicly shame them.

Ok so all 3 other speedrun leaderboard projects I've been following made in the past couple years all use Claude AI slop in one way or another. Nothing fucking matters anymore dude I hate everything.

I hope so. I just know a couple people who feel like their projects that use this data are in jeopardy, and I don’t want to see their hard work go to waste. Thats all.

I want to make it clear I’m not fighting for SRC (I literally own the handle @SRCsucks back when I used Twitter), I’m fighting for it’s data to continue to be used by others without any potential interference.

Ok, sounds great. That doesn’t exist yet. In the meantime, I don’t want these important websites made by people who have spent years developing incredibly useful tools off of SRC data (like TheRun) be destroyed.

Well until there is another website with all the data moved onto it I’d rather this historical archive and the use of it not be threatened by corporate bullshit. No one needs to use it ever again, but unfortunately it’s (or at least was) a valuable resource of information for people.

Regardless these changes will put other important sites that use SRC data in jeopardy.

I argue this is incredibly important to fight because they’re trying to monopolize speedrunning leaderboards and threatening speedrunning history and documentation with these changes. If this goes the way they want, you won’t be able to just “move to a different website”.

SRC has been incredibly important for speedrunning history, information, and accuracy. After Elo took over, they’ve slowly jeopardized all of this. Lots of content has been removed because of their decisions. This is the last straw. If this goes through, SRC will be completely useless. Fight this.
