The Daily Mail used an image of ex-IDF soldier and right wing agitator Avi Yemini as an example of pro-Palestine protesters “clashing” with cops. Righto. It’s been more than 36 hours since this article went live and despite a campaign for a correction by News Cord, the image is still up.

ICYMI: We analysed 42 interviews by ABC's 7.30 and found that guests from countries allied with Australia received different treatment than guests who weren't. Plus, deference was reserved for officials from Ukraine & Israel - even if their answers contradicted evidence.

Hmmmm hard to know who News24 blames for the latest rate hike. Shout out to Leo-ette for their ettecellent Youtube thumbnail spotting.

Our data dive highlights how the public broadcaster can — at times — echo the Australian government’s views and international relationships, despite evidence and the expectations of international law. This was particularly prevalent with one country: Israel. Listen to the full episode below.

We watched 42 7.30 interviews and one of the things we noticed was the language used to describe certain atrocities. The strongest and most graphic language was exclusively reserved for describing the killing of Israelis, a pattern we see in newsrooms around the world.

In this special episode, we take a deep dive into 42 interviews on ABC’s 7.30 programme — all with international guests from ‘conflict’ zones. Tomorrow we can finally share our findings with you… stay tuned.

We’re now at the point of dystopia where press reporting on the White House is considered a privilege despite being protected in the US constitution.

Meta restored the ad about the Virginia Woolf play after the theatre posted a statement online. However, it rejected distributor Bleeker Street’s appeal regarding the trailer for ‘Musk’.

Quarterly Essay, an award-winning Australian journal published by Schwartz Media, claims to present “the widest range of political, intellectual and cultural opinion”. But when Ette Media analysed who — and what — the journal publishes, the data reveals a far narrower picture. Read below 👇

In this episode Antoinette takes a close look at the politics and culture journal Quarterly Essay. Plus, we discuss Australia's complicity in the years-long “civil war” in Sudan, and the high school reporters taking their principals to court cover freedom of speech. Listen below:

The Quarterly Essay is a much-admired politics and culture journal that purports to showcase the "widest range of political, intellectual and cultural opinions" but upon some further inspection (and a colour-coded spreadsheet) maybe the range isn’t the widest it could be? New episode out now.

If only the Australian media had a blueprint for what could happen if the banning of journalists is normalised...

In the US, the Trump administration has expressed support for OpenAI to be able to bypass copyright and train on protected material. It’s yet to be seen if Anthony Albanese will follow suit.

Millions of Australians who switch on Samsung or LG smart TVs are susceptible to being fed populist right-wing news without choosing to watch it, in what experts believe is an opaque commercial deal between the Korean technology giants and Murdoch's media empire that pushes News24 content.

Jan and Antoinette chat through the Federal Government’s attempt to regulate social media algorithms. Plus, Macklemore accuses Ed Sheeran of being ‘apolitical’... except that he’s not. Also, Albanese claps back at Pauline Hanson’s comments about his mother, but Jan’s not buying the moving coverage.

@ettemedia.bsky.socialSep 15, 2026, 9:56 PM

Ed Sheeran is apparently "apolitical" and released a statement saying "I do not use my professional platform for politics" except… New episode of We Used To Be Journos is out now. You can watch it in full on Apple or YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts.

Pauline Hanson has turned attacks on journalists into a reliable political weapon, creating headlines while casting the media as the enemy. But as One Nation keeps picking fights, Australian journalists need to ask: what it will take to show solidarity with their peers under attack?

@ettemedia.bsky.socialSep 9, 2026, 6:00 AM

So, the national director of One Nation defended booting ABC journalists from yet another press conference by invoking DV parallels. For the record: *no one* "deserves" a slap. Also, probs not the right approach during a domestic violence epidemic.
