What do you want us to work on in 2027?
Here's a web app where you can rank the Interop proposals you care about, giving us data we can use to prioritise feature development.

“Father of SVG”. @W3C staff. Co-developed PNG, @font-face, WOFF. W3C rep to ICC. These days working on Web Fonts, Web Audio, CSS. He/him.
Website devs I've two important asks of you: 1) Make sure you have a favicon so I can recognise your site in my sea of tabs. 2) Don't change that favicon every time you have spare marketing budget and wanna do another pointless website rebrand for the 5th time that year. Thank you, All web users
this is so fucking sad

Most organisations want accessible websites, but their colour palettes weren't built for it.
Plenty of contrast checkers flag the problems. We couldn't find one that helps fix them, so we made one. Introducing...✨This hue shall pass✨ thishueshallpass.clearleft.com
Link Parameters is the thing that gives you the ability to style embedded external SVGs.
Something many have wanted to do for a long time!
If you want to show your support of this, give these 2 issues a thumbs-up and comment:
Blink: Intent to Prototype: CSS Linked Parameters for External SVGs
This is extremely clear and easy to understand, including all the vital bits that most implementations lack.
Yes, exactly
Yes, exactly
Not necessarily, it depends. They start with two master images (one hdr, one sdr). The gain map can be subsumed but need not be. The image can either br hdr+gainmap (to reconstruct sdr) or sdr+gainmap (to reconstruct hdr). The important feature is generating anywhere in between.
Gain maps (and gain curves, which are more lightweight) are not an alternative to hdr. They are a way to display the same hdr image with varying amounts of hdr headroom (right down to zero, ie sdr)
NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌

🎨 Ever wondered why oklch() is so odd?
Why adjusting L doesn't produce good color ramps?
And why TF is L=100% not white?!
I just wrote a thorough explanation of why this happens¹: github.com/web-platform...
👍 Upvote if you want this fixed in browsers in 2027!
¹ Spoiler: it’s lack of gamut mapping
Yup, gamut mapping fixes most of the “Oklch is so weird/broken” issues circulating. I’ll never understand why people think it’s more likely that oklch is super weird and everyone praising it probably delusional, instead of the Occam’s razor explanation that browsers royally screwed it up. 🤷🏽♀️

Interop 2027 is open for proposals! Is there a well-tested feature that you'd like to see cross-browser focus on next year? Submit it here: github.com/web-platform...
📢 Calling for Interop 2027 proposals. If you’ve encountered web features that behave differently across browsers, or standards-based capabilities that are difficult to rely on today, we want to hear from you.
It did, yes
Rather good, actually. Proud to say that my 6 year old recognizes it instantly and indeed, sings it in the car from time to time.
