Let's end the week with this photo of dancer Andreya in the beautifully restored Grade II listed Crystal Palace Subway. It was designed by Charles Barry Jr & first opened in 1865. The subway provided direct access to the Crystal Palace for first-class rail passengers.

I love the chequered floor tiles at Holborn London Underground station. Chequered tiles are surprisingly quite unusual in tube stations, the only other station I can think of that has them is Hounslow central but there must be more?

Deep beneath London, a strange steel creature stirs. Its headlights glow as it cautiously emerges from the tunnel, sniffing out the platform ahead. For a moment, it surveys the territory, then vanishes back into the darkness. Taken at Sloane Square.

I can never resist a perfectly symmetrical composition. Here’s a train framed neatly beneath the tower at Chiswick Park London Underground station.
