Trump has done a lot of craven things to undermine Ukraine but this one ranks near the top.

(Also, fascists tend to spend huge amounts of time obsessing over their public image so poking them with the slightest bit of goofiness, eg couch fornication, will often cause them to crash out and spend weeks trying to fix _that_ instead of doing new evils. Which is also fun to watch.)

The fascists being made fun of will not change their behavior, but to communities, knowing there are other people out there who hate Thiel or Musk or Trump's guts is _hugely_ important. It gives them permission to show their own contempt, and it swells from there.

So, the reason we mock horrible fascists is not to make fascists change their minds. It is to show they are mockable. It breaks the veneer of respectability and power. It gives others social permission to mock them. Satire is poisonous to power because it makes opposition both fun and collaborative.

Just a few days ago a Ukrainian drone blew up a tanker in Sochi, Russia. It was a pretty big deal! And now here comes Trump with this new Putin 'deal' to send Russian fuel to America? Hmmmmmm. I smell a rat.

A large part of me suspects this is a Trump scheme to pressure Ukraine into not hitting Russian tankers. (Ukraine has had great success hitting Russian tankers.)

It's Friday evening, time to manipulate the markets again! Unfortunately: 1) Russia does not have diesel to spare. This has been a big recent plot point, actually. 2) This is several days worth of diesel and will do nothing for prices.

This is how you get frustrated voters to haul themselves to a midterms voting booth. When ppl see you fighting, it makes them want to join in. They want to be associated with Guy Who Takes No Crap. They're going to think of this moment when filling in the little oval and they're going to _smile_.
