The fun part about that is that gay sex is arguably unitive, which would mean that gay sex is less sinful than masturbation or casual heterosexual sex with a condom (not that any catholic would argue that, but still)

The Catholics actually agree with the Mormons on that one -- the typical phrasing used by the church is that sex has to be both procreative and unitive to be valid.
