@jennhatfield.bsky.socialDoesn't hurt that she's from Alexandria, either!
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialThank you, Tyler. ❤️ You made me better, too - and I'm sure I'll still come bug you from time to time.
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialThank you very much! Excited to start the Ivy season!
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialThanks, Noel! I always appreciated your comments and interest in my Mystics coverage.
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialThanks, Jacob! I'm so glad we've gotten to be friends all these years. You are the MVP in so many ways and have made me better!
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialThank you so much for telling me this and for being a subscriber. It means a lot! I can promise you you'll be in good hands with my successor. 🙂
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(4/4) I could go on, but I don't want to make this longer or more self-indulgent than it already is. I just want to tell people what's changing rather than disappearing from the beat.
I've got lots more work to do, just on new topics. I hope you'll keep following @theixsports.bsky.social.
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(3/4) Thank you:
-Mystics past and present for your time and the relationships we developed.
- @howardmegdal.bsky.social for believing in me and giving a rookie such a big opportunity.
- @kareemcopeland.bsky.social @thetylerbyrum.bsky.social
for being such steadfast friends on the beat and beyond.
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(2/4) I loved my time covering the Mystics, but as the WNBA schedule expands, my commitments are becoming increasingly unsustainable. I still expect to cover the W occasionally, but I look forward to branching out next summer and trying new things. 📸 credits: Domenic Allegra
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(1/4) After 8 seasons and hundreds of stories, I'm stepping off the Washington Mystics beat. It was entirely my decision, and I'm staying on at @theixsports.bsky.social as managing editor and Ivy League beat reporter.
Mystics fans, there is an incredible successor lined up (TBA), so don't worry!
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(2/2) Here's that story from September, on how Angela Dugalić's parents came to the U.S., Angela became a world-class basketball player, and Angela decided to play for Serbia. @theixsports.bsky.social
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(1/2) This winter, Washington Mystics rookie Angela Dugalić will play for the Serbian team KKŽ Crvena Zvezda, which is led by Serbian national team coach Marina Maljković.
Dugalić was born in the U.S. but represents Serbia. You can read about the Dugalić family's story @theixsports.bsky.social. ⬇️
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialThe Ivy League WBB preseason poll is out:

Media day is Thursday, and I'll have a full preview later this month @theixsports.bsky.social. 🥳 #NCAAWBB
@theixsports.bsky.socialReposted by @jennhatfield.bsky.socialWith a full #WNBA season under her belt, Georgia Amoore is ready to focus on honing her game and enjoying the ride.
Our @jennhatfield.bsky.social has more:
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(2/2) Brown: Olivia Young
Columbia: Marija Avlijas, Hilke Feldrappe, Fliss Henderson, Blau Tor, Riley Weiss
Princeton: Skye Belker, Mari Bickley, Ashley Chea, Fadima Tall
Not sure who was first to report this - I think either @ Skim Milkey or raoul_000 on X.
@jennhatfield.bsky.social(1/2) A source confirms to @theixsports.bsky.social that several Ivy League WBB seniors are in the portal as graduate transfers for 2027-28. The Ivy League doesn't allow grad students to play. So with the new 5 in 5 eligibility rule, they all have another year to take elsewhere. ⬇️
@jacobmox.bsky.socialReposted by @jennhatfield.bsky.socialPer source to @herhoopstats.com, 2027 WNBA Draft lottery distribution:
HOU - 329*
TOR - 329*
WAS (via CHI) - 161
SEA - 93
POR - 52
LA - 24
LA (via PHX) - 12
*In the event both HOU and TOR are jumped in the lottery, the order would be Houston-Toronto.
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialICYMI: The Washington Mystics strove to stay joyful through the ups and downs of a full #WNBA season. But that goal gets harder in the playoffs, when a loss can be season-ending.
Read my story @theixsports.bsky.social about how Washington's season ended and the emotions around it:
@theixsports.bsky.socialReposted by @jennhatfield.bsky.socialThe Mystics stayed optimistic through a season of ups and downs and eventually, the playoffs. So, when they were eliminated by the Dream, the sadness finally hit.
@jennhatfield.bsky.social on the youngest team in league history to make the playoffs:
@jennhatfield.bsky.socialWashington Mystics center Shakira Austin and guard Sonia Citron each got one vote for #WNBA Defensive Player of the Year. Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese won the award with 46 of the 74 votes, and Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams was second with 20. @theixsports.bsky.social
