I've been a Dead Meat fan for a long time, and I can tribute their videos to helping me get more into horror as a genre. So with both this and as someone studying film, this felt pretty full circle for me XD But gOOOOD Fresh Meat was so good!!! I'm really glad I was able to catch this in theaters!

Fresh Meat (2026) review:

I love being a horror fan!!!! What an absolute rush I've had while watching this one night experience! I went into here with no expectations but I was so blown away! Fresh Meat is an anthology horror movie with 13 short films by new talent, with every film standing on each of their own two legs and never feeling like repeats. And with how anthology films can usually go, the quality can vary between shorts, but I am very impressed with what I did see! So many of them have such impressive make-up, practical effects, lighting, editing, and even animation! It's hard for me to pick a favorite because I genuinely enjoyed so many of them! A few that definitely stood out to me were for sure Closing Night, The Way I Feel, Tchotchke, Jinx and Dagnabbit!

As someone who is studying film in college, watching this has definitely inspired me, and took me back to when I had showcases watching my own and other's film projects. It was nice to have a fun horror film that shines some light on newcomers to the film making scene, and I can tell that many of these have a bright future. Cheers to James, Chelsea, the Dead Meat team and all of those who submitted their films!
