Oh this is such an excellent way to put it! A lot of people who have never tried to acquire skills in any artistic field very often reason that their lack of said skills is due to lack of talent. The same way they reduce people's successes & skills in any artistic field to innate talent.

People understand that you go to school to be a mechanic, doctor, engineer, etc. because we were raised with that social expectation. But with art, even as kids, creativity is treated as something built-in to you as a person, rather than it also being a learned skill.

My running hypothesis is that people view creative fields and interests (art, music, languages, etc) as "magic" and "innate talent". So when it's revealed that we use tools, shortcuts, premade assets, etc., it breaks their preconceived notions which makes them feel betrayed, thus angry.

are artists the only people who get told they're cheating for using prior existing knowledge or do you people also burst into a clean room and demand engineers design your motherboard from memory

Such a cool piece ;o; <3

Yes! :D Technically my third book cover commission. It can be a little intimidating, but so far happy customers, so I'm happy xD Thanks so much! <3

There is a reason workers fought for weekends. Get that rest! 😊

oh damn, looks epic! :D

Please help my very kind friend pay off her unfairly expensive but medically necessary rabies vaccine!!!

325gb of art and material that artists and animators weren't allowed to use in portfolios to keep themselves fed.

I could def see her wearing this!

Apologies if I'm slow to reply to any messages or if I miss anything. I'm running on zero sleep since August with our apartment manager telling me to "just see a doctor" if our neighbors are too loud. Currently trying to get out of our lease. Wish us luck.

Hell yeah, beautiful! 🌌

Draw something that sparks joy <3

Man, sorry for the last minute cancel. I was hoping to push myself to stream today cuz I miss chatting with y'all, but the neighbors have kept me up since 3AM and I am just so fucking tired. No stream today. And I'll be traveling next weekend, so no stream then either, sorry ;o; <3

being an artist is really just realising that you've never actually known what anything looks like ever

doin’ my best
