I keep asking my dog who’s a good boy, but he refuses to talk. I’m gonna have to waterboard the information out of him.
I don’t want everything tailored to my interests I want stuff made by perverts and sickos that makes me think about stuff differently
Accidentally hit the popular tag on Reddit. I think I'm going to be sick
Another fun thing about AI prevalence is there will be tons of non-vetted unpopular/unreviewed software which could easily be malware vectors, maybe even unintentionally. If people don't understand their own code and snippets are stolen from any number of things, god knows what ends up in some app.
Hey as someone out of the loop, whats the issue with this game?

when I started out programming I just couldn't wait to one day get to stop problem solving and stop designing architecture, to blossom into a full time robot herder and PR reviewer

While I'm ranting. Stop giving me PRs to review which take an hour and a half to go through (hundreds of lines) when there are blindingly obvious issues. Mocks testing mocks, using multi threads on airflow, American spellings, docstring explaining what the code does and not documenting the intent
In the age of AI development, the value of a human is taking ownership and accountability.
I've heard AI problems are a cultural issue with the business, but these developers are new to the org and they are brain broken from day 1. I'm not even saying don't use the AI but read the code, ask questions and for fuck sake take some ownership.
I ask them if they feel confident that their PR is tested? They'll say no. I tell them from the day they join the team they can ask me questions for context. They don't and just ask the AI. They don't even write the PRs. At best they get the AI to do it or they just won't bother.
I am running out of ideas how to get new developers to actually engage their brains. I'll give Jira tickets I've made to AI agents, come back say it's done and expect me to review it when they haven't even tested it.
