A review by The City Reporter of federal court records show Cuni participated in a number of warrantless arrests around NYC that federal judges later deemed illegal. In one of those cases, a judge ruled Cuni lied in sworn documents submitted in court.

While he was on the ground, the lawsuit alleges, Cuni began using a Taser on his legs. Unable to stand, officers carried his body into the van. Later he overheard the officers laughing as Cuni called him a “maldito Mexicano” or “fucking Mexican,” he said.

Cuni was named in multiple lawsuits where immigrants said they were beaten up and shot with stun guns. One of those arrests involved a 21-year-old in The Bronx; the lawsuit alleges an agent tripped him, and he fell to the ground, breaking a tooth.
