Flyers lose their seventh straight to start 2026-27 by a 4-1 final score. They were outshot 30-19. Rinse, repeat.
Some "fire Tocchet" chants start up after that goal. The place is pretty empty and they didn't last super long, but you could hear them up here in the press box.
4-1 Carolina.
Bonk's been rough tonight. But he's still made some plays, like on that last shift, where you see the top-4 upside. He's just not ready to be taking the toughest minutes on a top pair in his 2nd NHL regular season game.
It's kinda sad that "come out strong in a third period where you're down two goals" feels like something worth pointing out as a positive and not merely an assumption, but hey, that's been Flyers hockey to start 2026-27.
Second straight energetic start to a period, so I guess there's that. They're not scoring or anything, but once again they're buzzing.
*booed
Flyers booked off the ice as the second period comes to a close with them down 3-1. They're 20 minutes away from losing their first seven games to start the 2026-27 season.
Canes get it right back. Puck was bouncing around and it ended up right on the stick of Carrier moving into the slot, who found a wide-open Aho for a goal. 3-1.
Hey, the Flyers scored! Someone redirected a Nick Seeler point shot, and Christian Dvorak led the handshake line, so I'm guessing it was him. 2-1 Canes.
2-0 Hurricanes. Fantastic pass by Aho with Bunting all over him to Gostisbehere to set it up. Bonk let the pass get through him. Kid is having a really rough night.
Flyers were really discombobulated on the shift in the lead up to the goal. Lots of missed passes. A turnover from Bonk up the boards was the backbreaker.
And Carolina scores shortly thereafter. Snipe from Svechnikov. 1-0 Canes.
I mean, yeah, the officials probably should not be allowing Jordan Martinook to both sit on and punch a Flyer in the middle of the offensive zone while play is going on all around him.
They're back to playing pretty well now that it's 5v5. Lesson: ask to decline power plays.
And then they follow it up with a mostly horrible power play.
Flyers actually off to a solid start to this second period. Pressure, and then a penalty drawn.
Second post that Tippett has hit over the past two games.
