The River tour found Bruce pushing the boundaries of what a rock show could offer. "This was my place, my moment, my opportunity for my voice, no matter how faint, to be heard," Bruce later wrote. The trek crossed North America twice and Europe once, ending on this day in 1981.
25 years later, September 11 remains a day of remembrance.
